I was excited to read 'Midnight Man' due to all the 5 stars revi

I was excited to read 'Midnight Man' due to all the 5 stars reviews, but this story left me greatly disappointed. This was my first read by Lisa Marie Rice and it didn't leave a good impression on me so I don't know if I'll continue the 'Midnight' Series or check out her other works. First of all, I liked the concept of the story. I love Romantic Suspense and thought this story would be just what I needed for the time being. Upon the first couple of pages, nothing held my interest and that continued throughout the whole story. I must also have to admit, it was painful to finish and so I scanned the last half of the book to see how it ended.

So here's my reasons why this is a low rating book for me: the pacing was super slow; it bored me to tears. The characters were unlikeable. The characters had no depth, no real connection, and things moved way too fast between the protagonists to be remotely realistic. The whole story takes place within a week's time and the characters were already having rough sex against a wall after their first dinner date. Also, the hero, John, came off as a chauvinistic pig sometimes due to some remarks of his and seemed to only want what was between the woman's legs. He radiated lust to the extreme and only wanted to jump the woman's bones whenever he can. Then that brings me to the heroine Suzanne; she was a businesswoman, but had no spine whatsoever and falls into submission whenever John touches her. The sex was boring, the plot fell flat, and what was trying to pass as suspense was a huge fail. Lastly, the story ended abruptly and everything was resolved in a quickie within the last few pages.

Overall, I did not enjoy 'Midnight Man.' Others seemed to highly like it so maybe this was just not my cup of tea. Other authors that excel in this category are Pamela Clare, Roxanne St. Claire, Christy Reece, and Cindy Gerard. If you like steamy romance with passion, love, and REAL suspense check these authors out. As for Lisa Marie Rice's Midnight Man, it was a huge disappointment.

    Could not finish

It started out OK, but this guy is a huge horndog. The suspense never really went anywhere. I was waiting for the story to get going but after the shoot out, they go to a cabin in mountains and it's just sex, sex, sex and more sex. I guess if that is what you want to read, go for it, it just didn't do it for me.

Great story, ending not so much

I loved the story but only gave it 4 stars because the ending is so abrupt. There was a lot left to say. It literally shocked me when it said THE END

Steamy, sweaty and a lot more

This book was very good! Great characters, good plot and the love scenes of a wet dream. The only reason I gave it four stars and not five was because I felt it should have had a little bit of an after story. I am a paranormal fan so for it to keep my interest says a lot. Give it a try if you like explicit stories with hardcore, manly men!

    Sensuous with a fabulous story.

This is the first book by Lisa Marie Rice that I have read. The book had pretty explicit sex scenes, but the action scenes and the plot were great. The Navy SEAL,John Huntington was an intimidating Midnight Man. The decorator Suzanne Barron was a soft counterpart to John. The pace of the novel was fast and interesting. It was a breathtaking read!

    Pretty Decent :)

i only docked it a star because personally the sex scenes were not to my taste. the story and the characters are very good, and there seemed to be a good chemistry between them. i liked the reactions to each other and build up of sexual tension but didn't get/enjoy the actual sex as it was written. i forgave them and let them have their way :) it's a really good book

    A total Alpha male

This guy was alpha in spades. Loved the story, the chemistry and the characters. Highly recommend this if you like romantic suspense with sizzle and an off the charts alpha male.

Alpha males and heroines in danger

This story was a particular favorite because it is set in the Pacific Northwest where I am from. I liked the fast pace of the writing but would have liked more detail in the secondary characters. It was difficult at first to empathize with the female lead, because for a woman with her brains and supposed confidence she seemed awfully indecisive where her feelings for Midnight were concerned. Recommended this to my online bookchat. About 415 nook pages.
