A sweet and cute romance novel Midwife to Destiny was my first read by Nana Prah and I thought it was a sweet cute read. In this story we meet Aurora “Ora” Aikins, a nurse on vacation in Cape Cod, South Africa when she met Dr. Jason Lartey. To say these two were attracted to each other was an understatement. While Jason treated Ora’s wound during a brief accident, he saw his future in her eyes and Ora was just as affected. Ora explained she was engaged but Jason convinced her to allow him to become her tour guide for the rest of her stay. Little did these two realize the attraction would continue to intensify. They were in tune to each other, but Ora vowed to keep her promise to marry another, ended her vacation and returned to Ghana to marry a man she did not love. Fast forward three years later, Ora was unmarried and once Jason discovered Ora’s unmarried status, he put plans into motion and moved to Ghana to win the woman he felt was the one for him. He didn’t realize the issues Ora still harbored from her past and he tried to convince her they were meant to be together. This was an interesting story that at times readers will question some of Ora’s actions and theories on why she was not meant to have a meaningful relationship. Ms. Prah did a decent job with character development; not sure if she meant for Ora’s character to work a nerve with her stubbornness. If that was the goal, Ms. Prah succeeded. In viewing Jason’s development, Ms. Prah portrayed Jason as a man, once he realized what he wanted, he would stop at nothing to get it. He was a patient man and readers would glimpse the lengths he went to be with Ora. In some cases, he was too patient. Overall this was a sweet, okay read. It’s a cute romance novel. -Reviewed by Deborah
Midwife to Destiny by Nana Prah 5 out of 5 Stars In Midwife to Destiny, we ALL fall in love with Dr Jason Lartey and his silky smooth voice and drool-worthy romantic mannerisms. While we are falling for him, he is head over heels for Aurora Aikins, a nurse who happens to stumble into his Emergency Room one day in South Africa. Sparks fly and he can't resist spending more time with Aurora, AKA Ora. For reasons unknown to anyone else and unspoken to herself, Ora flees back to Ghana, severing all ties to her sweet hunk of a doctor. Years go by, and Ora finds that she still can't get over the one man who, after very little time, stole her heart and never returned it prior to her departure from his company. Imagine her surprise when she walks into work one morning to find him making rounds on her ward!!! I absolutely love the sincerity that is constantly displayed throughout this book and I thoroughly enjoyed witnessing Ora's emotional growth and her journey to finding the roots of her commitment issues, as well as learning to deal with said issues. How many men do you know that would be openly willing to wait on his love to find her own inner peace before pursuing a deeper intimacy? I know very few of those special men! I usually prefer series, but Midwife to Destiny was wrapped up with a neat little bow and left me feeling nothing but joy in regards to the end result of Ora and Jason's journey to happiness. I caught myself smiling more and more as the story progressed and I saw the gradual evolution of Ora into her true self. To summarize my thoughts in a word, LOVE!!!! *Honest review given in exchange for a complimentary copy of this ebook.* Meagan, My Secret Book Spot
