Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Sue Presslar
This is another in the series called "The Nature Company Young Discoveries Library." Detailed illustrations are intriguing and the text is easy for young children to understand. Each page highlights a unique or little-known fact about the various dinosaurs. This is a good introduction for those with a scientific inclination.
School Library Journal
Gr 1-3-Two attractive series titles that present basic information about our natural world. Identical uncluttered formats successfully target the intended audience with large print, eye-catching headings, and simple illustrations set against stark white backgrounds. Things demonstrates similarities and differences in the way wings function for adaptation and survival. Numerous birds and insects appear in large illustrations of bright but natural coloration. Mighty Dinosaurs gives general information about prehistoric life. Meat and plant eaters, large and small, fast and slow are all represented along with the egg-laying Maisaura. Close-ups spotlight a particular feature such as a long neck or large teeth. A who's who of the animals' scientific names with a pronunciation guide and common meaning concludes the presentation. Indexes are not included, but the table of contents in each book will be an adequate guide for young readers. Appealing additions for natural-science sections.-Diane Nunn, Richard E. Byrd Elementary School, Glen Rock, NJ
