Good for Core part but not OS.

This book was an ok book, easy to follow but left a lot of holes on the OS section for someone who has no experiece in the field. I failed the OS part of the exam...twice even after commiting this book to memory. However I passed the Core section easily. Also this book doesn't give you enough info to actually be a tech even if you pass the exam. I highly recommend the 'A+ Certification Training Guide' by Que Certifications (author: Charles Brooks). It is a CompTia certified training book and gives you more than enough info to pass the exams!

Stay away, only good for the Hardware portion..

I thought I knew alot about computers after building 3 or 4, I picked up this book for a study guide..after reading the book and taking the practice tests on the CD and passing them everytime perfect I decide to take the Hardware test..I pass it no problem..then I go for the OS test...I failed, scored a 496...the book doesn't even come near preparing you for this test..I then picked up 'A+ Adaptive Exams' by Chris Crayton and just retook my OS exam today and made a passing score of 1016...quite a difference..

Good for only Half of the Test.

The book was great when it came to the A+ Hardware Core Exam. It was highly detailed and explained alot of things that were covered in the test. The downfall of this book was its inablility to prepare you for the OS Exam. Even after studying carefully for the OS Exam retake again it failed to enpower the knowledge of the what's really required to pass.

    very misleading

I read the book cover to cover. I also reviewed it another time for about a month. In all I studied for about 3-4 months before even taking the test. I assumed that the claim of being all I needed to pass the exam would be true. I would get 90-95% on the practice exams in the book, I thought I would set a record for having the highest score! I took the exam on Friday and got a 509! I FAILED!!!! A lot of the material on the test wasn't even covered in the book. If you want to learn about computers, a good book. But if you want to pass the a+ test, find another book. Also, the CompTia exam objectives didn't work. I'm very disappointed because he Mr. Meyers boasts of his credentials.

Best Book I've Seen For the A+ Exams

This book was all I needed to prepare for the A+ exams. I found it to be very exam specific with no annoying fluff. It really prepared me for everything including the OS exam. Anyone preparing for the A+ exams cannot afford to be without this book. Mike Meyers is definitely a genius, which is proven again with this book and his choice of a co-author. I will definitely be watching for more from Tracey Rosenblath, and will continue to watch for titles from the A+ guru Mike Meyers.
