Children's Literature - Melissa Hower
The Cat in the Hat takes his young friends on a journey to find out about reptiles. The book relates information about the physical features of various reptiles as well as the ways reptiles travel, care for their babies, and regulate their body temperature. Facts about reptiles' diets, adaptations, and ways they defend themselves is also included. The book compares a tortoise to a turtle and a crocodile to an alligator. Some of the other reptiles that are introduced include chameleons, Komodo dragons, geckos, and cobra snakes. Furthermore, this book includes a glossary and a page with suggestions for further reading. It is full of interesting facts about many different reptiles, and the rhyme and rhythm of the text add to the fun. This book is proof that books can be educational and entertaining at the same time. This book is part of "The Cat in the Hat's Learning Library" series. This book is a must have for children interested in reptiles and would be a worthwhile addition to any school or home library.
