Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
Irrespective of intelligence, skills, education or luck, claims Ringer ( Looking Out for #1 ), the faithful practice of specific, simple ``habits'' will assure success in one's chosen field, preferably a job that is both financially rewarding and personally meaningful. The term ``habit,'' however, is misleading as Ringer uses it, e.g., ``the Action Habit,'' to embrace discussions of human relations, morality, efficiency, self-discipline, etc. This self-help book, while breezily written and offered in authoritative in tone, tends to present the obvious and commonsensical as new concepts. Many of the illustrative anecdotes demonstrate the author's own percipience and sense of priorities. 150,000 first printing; author tour. (Apr.)

    My Bible

Since I stole the only copy of Million Dollar Habits from the University Library in 1995, my life took an altogether different direction. Even after having assimilated Ringer's teaching on the Morality Habit, I still could not feel the compunction strong enough to let me give back the book to the library. It became, and still is, my bible. I seculated it to all my friends and relatives with reading interest. And it was wholesomely appreciated leading to long analyses of the all ten great habits. Mr Ringer takes you by the hand and shows you the way to meander through our snare-infested life with the ease of a swallow in the skies. The insipiration the book renders me is so refleshing that I, more often than not, save the book unre-read for a long time so that when I would go through it again, usually when I am on a long, lonely journey, it would rejuvanate my life. Surely I had never read a book as fulfilling as the Million Dollar Habits. And to tell you why I could not take the book back to the library, I knew any sane person who would came across it and read just the well laid introduction, would still steal it with no hesitation given the fact that in this part of the world (Zambia, Sourthen Africa) such books are not easy to come by. Though at the moment I do have easy access to the computer and and internet and can more easily order such kind of books, most fellow keen raeders of philosophical books go without books of that kind. If only five percent of the world's readers could read only one chapter of the million dolar habits, social life as we know it today would be plained beyond recognition. To Mr. Ringer, I say, you are my hero. Though the stollen copy of your book is now so brown-bleached you could not recognise it even if it was thrust within inches of your wide open eyes, I still treasure it dearly. Hope to read the rest of your books if the ordering and shipping process allows.
