Imagination doesn't get much hotter than in the sizzling and seductive romances of Dara Joy -- and her brand-spanking-new paranormal romance is so hot, it cooks! Her storytelling has never been better, and her flights of fantasy have rarely soared higher than in Mine to Take. This is one book that can be judged by its cover -- a sexy hunk strapped with his arms raised above his head, cuffed from above, and not a stitch to be seen anywhere near his perfectly formed torso!
For readers familiar with Rejar, her previous novel, Mine to Take treads a bit on classic Dara Joy territory -- a world of powerful wizards, women of great wisdom, and male slaves of startling sensuality. Joy introduces us in this one to handsome tomcat Gian, of the breed of shape-shifting Familiars. These are cat people of sorts who are docile in many ways, but exhibit heightened sensual tendencies. But Gian is chained in the dungeon of cold and cruel Karpon, who intends to use the young Familiar for a nasty trick. Karpon wants the power in the kingdom and will stop at nothing to get it. Unfortunately, the people of this alternate world look to the beautiful young Jenise for leadership, and Karpon is obsessed with the woman. But he's devised a plan to wrest her power from her -- he will force a mating between Jenise and Gian, and when the people discover that Jenise has been "ruined" by a Familiar, they will execute Gian while Karpon will be seen as a hero. It's a bit of a bizarre method of operating, but Jenise knows that Karpon is just crazy enough to carry it out.
When Jenise spies the attractive Familiar in his prison cell, she feels an immediate love for him, and she knows what she must do. She will beat Karpon at his own game -- she will mate with Gian, and use this moment to escape her own bondage in the palace.
While this sounds like a wild plot (and it is!), the romance bursts through as we get to know Gian and he in turn gets to know Jenise and teaches her about the feline love of the Familiars. Sexy, spicy, and definitely to be read at night (preferably with perfumed sheets, some lit candles, and with any luck, a
Familiar of one's own nearby), Mine to Take is the cat's meow! This is a paranormal romance that's one of this season's steamiest reads.
