Overview

Marie, Noelle, and all their friends are back to solve more mysteries---big and small. This year, the girls struggle all year long to earn enough money to travel to Hawaii where their biggest mystery ever awaits them.
These popular books appeal to girls who love to solve puzzles, uncover clues, and crack cases! Along with Marie and her best friend, Noelle, girls must figure out which clues in the story will help solve the mystery and which ones are red herrings--those false leads that can send a reader in the wrong direction. A repeating cast of characters and real-life girl situations allow readers to connect with the stories they're reading. Once the reader solves a mystery, she can tear open a case folder in the back of the book to check her answer.

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Suzanna E. Henshon
Would you like to be a detective? Rick Walton's Mini Mysteries 3 has 20 more mysteries for young readers to solve. Most of the stories include just two to four pages of text plus humorous illustrations. Children can solve their way through a diversity of stories: "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Aunt," "Light Housekeeping," "Stocks in a Box," "What a Character!," "A Lemonade Stand and a Business Plan," and "Shake, Rattle, and Roll." Walton's mysteries have catchy titles with cultural references, and young readers will enjoy a third adventure with Marie and Noelle. While the mysteries are well-written, it is sometimes difficult to solve these cases. After all, these mysteries have just a page or two of set-up before readers are supposed to solve the case along with the characters. There is, however, a helpful solution key at the back of this book. Young detectives will enjoy solving another 20 cases with Noelle and Marie in this popular "American Girl" series. Reviewer: Suzanna E. Henshon, Ph.D.
