Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Maria E. Gentle
Sight is a very complex concept. This book tries to explain what it is and how it works in a way that children will understand. It does a fairly good job. Rick Peterson's illustrations are very child friendly, somewhat cartoonlike, bright and bold. They include boys and girls, black and white. The illustrations of the eye and its parts are simple and clear. The role of light and depth of field are also explained. This small book contains some interesting data at the back which includes: curious facts, a glossary, bibliography, websites, list of other titles in the series, and an index. This is a simple yet substantial title for use in the science curriculum. Scientific explanations are brought down to a level that will make the concepts understandable by the little ones. A great start for further learning. Recommended for school and public libraries. Mira! Is part of the "Nuestro cuerpo. Los Cinco sentidos/ Our Bodies. Five Senses." Picture Window series.
