Barnes & Noble - Carol Wright
This is Miriam Stockley's first solo album, but you've probably heard her voice on Karl Jenkins's "Adiemus" recordings, or as a backup singer for Tina Turner, Elton John, David Bowie, and Seal not to mention scores of advertising jingles and movie soundtracks. Her voice is as sweetly beautiful, dynamic, and sincere as a Christian inspirational singer, yet not only can she pull off her own six-part backup vocals, but when she sings in a foreign language Portuguese, Hebrew, Zulu, or Latin she mixes in some of that mysterious and spine-tingling Adiemus sound. The orchestral arrangements range from the delicacy of "A Perfect Day" from "The Tales of Beatrix Potter" to the ...

The orchestral arrangements range from the delicacy of "A Perfect Day" from "The Tales of Beatrix Potter" to the sweeping sonic landscape of the African-inspired "Ruwenzori" Mountains of the Moon. The orchestral sea of "Song of the Seahorse" is so watery, one can almost set sail on it. If you believe that dreams can come true, that love conquers all, and that angels watch over your sleep, then Stockley's songs -- and the way she sings them -- are for you.
All Music Guide - Heather Phares
Miriam Stockley's debut album, Miriam, puts her ethereal vocals into the spotlight. Her previous work includes collaborations with Tina Turner, Elton John, George Michael, David Bowie, and Adiemus, whose musical style Miriam resembles most closely with its fusion of classical, world, pop, and new age elements.

    SIMPLY THE BEST!

I HAVE BEEN A HUGE MIRIAM FAN SINCE ADIEMUS-SONGS OF SANCTURY. SONGS LIKE FOREVER MY HEART/ MERCY STREET/ PERFECT DAY/ INNOCENTS & UKU'LELA SHOW JUST HOW HAUNTING A SINGER SHE IS. MIRIAM'S VOICE IS EVERY BIT AS HAUNTING AS THE LIKES OF ENYA/ MOYA BRENNAN & CAROLINE LAVELLE

    A wonderful singer!

This is a terrific album by an incredibly versatile singer. If you know the song "Adiemus", then you've heard her - every voice in that song is her! The song "Arcadia" is so lovely, and the last three songs are wonderful. This is a voice of a thousand colors, an impressive range, and POWER. What a treat!
