Overview

Some singers sing, but Kelly Price can blow. Respected by such heavyweights as Whitney Houston, with whom she performed the single "Heartbreak Hotel" on Houston's My Love Is Your Love, Price paid her dues as a backup singer for big-name artists such as Mariah Carey, Faith Evans, Brian McKnight, and Aretha Franklin. And those experiences serve her well on her sophomore effort, which showcases this singer's beautiful, church-honed soprano and heartfelt emotional range. On "She Wants You," Price bares her soul, warning her naïve lover that she's "never gonna let another one take what's mine." On the flip side, Price slips into the conflicting role of the other woman in her excellent remake of Shirley Murdock's yearning classic "As We Lay." Price's cover version was produced by Shep Crawford and Montell Jordan, whose sparse musical backdrop complements Price's acrobatic vocals. Changing the pace a bit, the club-ready "Good Love" and the bluesy, mid-tempo "Can't Run Away" offer a nice diversion from the album's predominantly smooth grooves. Perhaps the most daring track is the three-way ballad "All I Want Is You," on which K-Ci and Gerald Levert compete vocally for Price's affections. With Mirror, Mirror, Kelly Price makes it clear that she won't be relegated to the background, and given her soulful voice and magnetic presence, we're happy to see her getting top billing.

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Michael Gallucci
Like Mary J. Blige, Price has a big, bad, beautiful voice. And like Blige, she often chooses smart material to go along with that big, bad, beautiful voice. On her second album, she goes through many R&B motions -- over-singing, pallid bedroom songs, tuneless tales -- but still manages to sound like a genuinely thrilled diva in the process. Filled with slow jams, slick hip-hop, and gospel, Mirror Mirror is a more rounded record than Price's debut. Best is a cover of Shirley Murdock's "As We Lay" played like a Broadway curtain-closer. It reveals Price's penchant for theatricality and demonstrates her warmth as a singer. She puts an individualist's stamp on the album, a looking glass, if you will, into her soul.

THIS CD IS ALL THAT AND THEN SOME!!!THE SONGS TOUCH SO MANY ISSUES:Weight in a relationship,Things a man should do and say to his woman. How a woman feels about another woman liking her man and he can't see it.When your partner is already married and we didn't know. This cd also touches working mom's feelings about missing their children. How women feel when we are in love with a man and they don'know it. When we love a man and don't care if they are already married. How we,women feel when we receive good loving. Finally what happens to the man in the relationship when he strikes out(one, two, three)!

Kelly Price's Mirror,Mirror really reflects a soul sister and diva. Her album released June 2000 ranges from church to soul, smooth to rhythm and blues, and all the way to hip-hop, she covers it all. To every song the beat is just right and flows with the lyrics. Very trained and disciplined with her vocals, she hits a note just right. Not only would you like the beat, but you would love to listen to her sultry diva voice. You could tune on Ms. Kelly at church or at a party for teens . Never denouncing another soul or using derogatory language, she fulfills your wants and desires. Duets contain K-Ci from Jodeci, Gerald Levert, R. Kelly, and Sisqo with his crew, containing a large variety of music. The Mirror, Mirror album definitely reflects every tune and sound you would want to hear. From soprano to base, Ms. Price knows how to sing them all. Anybody that loves to listen to good music should go out and listen to what Kelly has to offer.

Kelly Price's album is full of soul. She hits every issue from weight to sex in a relationship. Her Music is so clear. If any one gives her anything below 5 stars they are hating on one of the very few real to life divas out there. She gets mad love from me. My boyfriend loves her music and he plays it more than I do. She can go on with her bad self. All of her ballads are saucy. I love her music.

Mrs. Kelly Prices is one of few soultry R&B, Jazz, Gospel singers out. This third album "MIRROR MIRROR" has proved to be one of the best. There are some amazing songs on the album. My personal favorites are the two songs co-written and performed by Robert "R" Kelly (The National Anthem and She Wants You). Kelly Price has proved she is one great diva. And trust me this album is "PRICELESS"
