Misled

"I found this an emotional novel. Very gripping. I couldn’t put it down once I started – unfortunately I started reading just before going to bed and I was then up most of the night because even after I had finished the characters and the story stayed with me." - MoMo Book Diary
"Misled is simply written but eloquent. C.J. Spammer makes simply walking in another person’s shoes exciting and interesting enticing you to find out more. I really enjoyed this story and loved the easy going writing." - The Book Worm Buddy

A chance encounter between Sara and her ex-boyfriend, Justin, whom she hasn’t seen in four years, sends her into an emotional tailspin.
Sara has Bipolar Disorder which caused her to act impulsively and irrationally in the past. As she struggles with her thoughts and emotions after seeing Justin, the story ebbs and flows between the past and the present.

The reader is taken on a nostalgic rollercoaster ride back to when Sara - an eighteen year old art student working at a restaurant - first meets Justin.
In the past, we follow the beginning of their 4-year relationship, and its ultimate demise. Meanwhile, in the present, Sara must wrestle with long-kept secrets - secrets that have haunted her for years - and the guilt that accompanies them.

Although the story is often dark, touching on some serious issues, there are many lighter moments with sprinklings of humour and warmth.
The unexpected ending to this story will leave you reeling and wanting more.

About the Author

C. J. Spammer was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. She started writing stories and poetry from an early age and was encouraged to develop her natural writing ability by her teachers and family.

C. J. was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder when she was sixteen years old, after a manic episode necessitated her admittance to a local clinic. Her struggle with the illness has been challenging, but she attributes her survival to (among other things) her God-given gifts; finding solace in journaling, poetry, story writing, art and music.

When C. J. isn't working or writing, she enjoys reading, watching movies and series, singing, dancing, walking, and spending time in nature with family and friends.
She is a self-professed chocoholic and coffee addict, and usually delights in both at the same time.

She aspires to one day publish an anthology of her many poems, as well as a memoir of her personal struggles with depression and living with Bipolar Disorder.

C. J. lives in Cape Town with her husband and their two young sons.
