When America's sweetheart...
Brea Richards is America's sweetheart. Dubbed Miss Congeniality by the media, Brea has spent years honing her current reputation. And being one of the leading stars of a prime time television show...priceless. It's a long way from her humble beginnings, but that's her secret to keep. Or at least that's what she believes until she gets the phone call.
Meets America's bad boy...
Lance Holder is America's bad boy, the guy they love to hate. He lives life the way he wants, and makes no apologies, regardless of what anyone thinks. All everyone sees is the tattooed, motorcycle riding, reckless movie star, preventing anyone from looking beneath the surface. And that's just fine with Lance. Until his new gig puts him right in the path of Brea.
Will either one escape unscathed?
Lance is the newbie on Brea's show, and everyone is watching to see if America's bad boy will influence Miss Congeniality. They don't know Brea's worst influences happened long before Lance entered the picture. And Lance seems to be one of the only ones to see beyond her current façade. Maybe America's bad boy is just what America's sweetheart needs...

I love Hollywood romances. I think it’s kind of fun to live the lives of these characters for just a bit, and I thought this book delivered for the most part on the fun, the romance, the drama and the sexiness that a Hollywood story should have. Brea has worked really hard to be a successful actress in Hollywood. She is the star of a prime time TV show, which is something considering she has a tragic past. Raised by a drug addicted mother, she survived only because of her brother Alex. She’s worked really hard to keep her past a secret, but one thing could bring it all crashing down…and that’s Lance. Lance is Hollywood’s “bad boy”. His image is the polar opposite of Brea’s, and when he’s cast in her show as her love interest, the sparks fly both on set and off and they quickly become an item. The thing is, Lance is actually really sweet, but can they keep their relationship together when it becomes the focus of the Hollywood media and paparazzi? I loved Lance! He’s everything that you want in a Hollywood leading man in these stories. Sweet but dominant and a little dirty in the bedroom…me likey. Brea I liked too and she seemed a very real character whose past was tragic but with her own strength she managed to overcome it. Totally admirable and it made her that much more interesting for me. There was something about the writing style of this book that was kind of a turn off for me. It’s not that it was poorly written, but the style didn’t really flow for me very well. It felt stilted and in general the action of the book was spotty and not very interesting in parts. But even with all of that, I still found myself reading on to see how it all ended for Lance and Brea. Overall, I did enjoy this book even with my criticisms. The characters are great and the general plot was interesting. 3.5 stars Reviewed by Sara Squared for Crystal’s Many Reviewers *Copy Provided for review*
5 Amazing Stars This book was given to me for my honest review. When the holidays come around and the season to search for our perfect Christmas tree we look at all kinds of trees thinking in our mind what will make the perfect tree in our home stand out to passerby’s. But in searching for the perfect tree we don’t notice the flaws or the hardship it will be in putting together the perfect site. We look forward to the ending scene we have in our minds to make it the perfect sight. Brea-actress, sweet, smart and pretty Lance-actor, hunky alpha male Brea is the girl with the hidden past. She knows that if her past was to revealed that all could be lost. But what happens when the past and the future unite? Can her fears be conquered? Brea has so much love to give in her heart but with the past lurking can she find a man that will understand her past? Can she find the one man that will conquer all her fears with her and stand by her? Does this man exist? As an actress she can hide her past but for how long? Lance is an actor and he knows what a good show is all about. He knows that the ladies love him but he doesn’t want all the ladies he just wants one. The untouchable woman with the stars in her eyes and the lightening he sees when he looks or touches her. Just a touch of her hand can send him to a zone that he so wants to stay in. But he knows she has fears but can he be the one man that she will trust in order to not to run away once all is revealed? Can he be her heart? Brea and Lance’s journey is not one that is made up in the tv shows or the movies it is what it is. It is their journey to finding a love that can’t be tainted by the past or what comes in the future. It is a long and hard journey but with just the right amount of love and understanding can this couple make it to finding the everlasting love that is so right for them? Can they both stick by each other and be each other’s rocks? In the bedroom the chemistry between them is fire upon fire and the steam that comes off this couple can be explosive. They work together in the bedroom but can they survive outside of the passion and steam to work as one? Can they each depend on one another without fear? Will they keep the bond of trust in one another to make it to forever? To the author: This was a heart wrenching read that captivated this reviewer from the first page to the last. The hotness that this couple possesses was one blaze after another. This truly is a read for all. You took characters from the opposite sides of the tracks and added more mystery to each page and surprises along the way that had me saying “Oh No she did not” several times and wanting to yell at Lance many times too. Amazing Happy Reading
I really wasn’t sure what to expect from this book. The synopsis grabs your attention and demands that you read it and find out if the Good Girl and the Bad Boy are really just that. Although I’m not fond of the third person POV, this was a really good story. Marie Garner does a great job of pulling you in from the beginning. The prologue broke my heart. We get to see how Brea and her brother were raised and it wasn’t pleasant. It pulls at your heart strings. And even though Brea had a sh*tty childhood until they were removed from that situation she was determined to follow her dreams with the support of her brother and new family. This book will pleasantly surprise you. It is a true example of how people judge a book by its cover. When Brea meets Lance she’s attracted to him right away. You can just tell that the chemistry between these two is going to be off the charts. I enjoyed reading the story but it also had its moments where I really wasn’t feeling it. Some of the scenes just felt like they were fill ins. It just seemed to drag at some points. I hate skimming through books because I feel like I’m going to miss some crucial piece of information but I found myself skimming through some parts in this book. I just felt like they really weren’t needed. However, it really was a good story. Lance was super sexy and Brea at times will annoy you but she kinda grows on you. Give it a shot, you’ll like it, you’ll enjoy and you will love Lance.
My first read from Ms. Garner and it was a pleasant surprise. Brea Richards comes from a hard background. At 8 years old she knew life wasn’t supposed to be sneaking out of her house being led by her big brother across the field of drugs, used needles and bodies. She knew that she wanted out and would leave as soon as she could. She wanted to be a star and that’s what she became. One of the three “Misses” in the hit soap opera Maggie Beach, she’s nicknamed Miss Congeniality. Always going along with others, keeping her head down and moving as far away from her past as possible. She thinks she’s got it all figured out, then Lance Holder comes barging in her life and it will never be the same. Lance Holder, bad boy extraordinaire has his own baggage to carry. Being named the lead male in the hit show Maggie Beach, he’s not looking for anyone to tame his ways, he just wants to provide for his family and keep his secrets hidden. His instant connection to Miss Congeniality is not something he saw happening. The chemistry between Brea and Lance is explosive and who knows what will come out as they try to navigate a relationship in the spotlight of the paparazzi. Wonderfully written, with an excellent plot that kept me guessing, this story was an awesome read. I loved the writing style, the supporting characters and the twists this story took. It was a great look in to the life of superstars and made you think about how it would be to live in the show business spotlight. Love, sex, heart crushing disappointment, and drama this book had it all. A fantastic read that will keep you engaged and wanting more. Glad this is the 1st in the series, can’t wait to see what Ms. Garner has up next.
