Miss Julia masterminds a makeover in New York Times bestselling author Ann B. Ross’s latest installment in her popular series

It’s summer in Abbotsville, and Miss Julia has visions of enjoying a life of leisure. But before she can even sip some iced tea on her front porch, a letter from her long-lost cousin Elsie informs her that Elsie’s granddaughter is on a bus headed to Abbotsville that very day. Reminding Miss Julia of an old family debt, Elsie proclaims that she is sending Trixie to Miss Julia’s to learn to become a lady. The nerve of some people! When the rude and unkempt Trixie arrives, even Sam and Lloyd agree that Miss Julia faces quite a challenge.

Meanwhile, Sam has decided to run for state senate. But when he has a fainting spell and has to go into the hospital for tests, who will run his campaign? Is his no-good rival going to cakewalk into office? No sir, not if Miss Julia has anything to say about it—and indeed she does, including up on the stump.

In this marvelous addition to the popular series, Miss Julia is sure to have a summer that she—and Abbotsville—will never forget!

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly

At the start of bestseller Ross’s comforting, leisurely paced 15th Miss Julia novel set in Abbotsville, N.C. (after 2013’s Miss Julia Stirs Up Trouble), husband Sam announces that he plans to run for the state Senate. Miss Julia has no sooner adjusted to that idea when a distant relation in Vidalia, Ga., writes that she’s sending her granddaughter, Trixie, to Miss Julia for the summer to get “spruced up and polished.” A model of decorum, Miss Julia is dismayed to find herself making speeches when Sam is hospitalized in the early days of the political campaign, and even more so when the sullen and disagreeable Trixie, “a not-so-young woman,” starts dating unsuitable men. Ross’s great achievement is the creation of Abbotsville, a small town so ideal that the most violent occurrence is an exhibition of poor manners, like dropping in for a visit without phoning first. Bad news for Miss Julia: long-lost cousin Elsie is sending her granddaughter her way for some much-needed lessons in manners, while Sam's plans to run for state senate are waylaid by a fainting spell that lands him in the hospital for tests.

    Twists and turns

Miss Julia gets her hands full with a relative named Trixie. But the best part is little Latisha, smart wit and firecrackers too. Real ones, had me cracking up good time, ribs hurt just laughing.

I have read all of the Miss Julia series. I have enjoyed all of them. However, this latest edition is not quite as entertaining as her past. I didn't find myself rushing to the end to get all the answers. Ann does have a new one coming in the fall, which I have preordered. I have high hopes for that one.

Another wonderful episode in Miss Julia's life!

Ann Ross' Miss Julia series is such a delight! I always look forward to each new one with pleasure. Each book is a stand-alone, but if you are new to the series, don't miss the previous ones.

Can't read this book as it will not load on to my Nook

I would love to be able to read this book but I am not able to load it on to my nook. I have had several conversations with B&N customer service but still can't load the book. It is very frustrating when you pay for a book and then can't read it. I really can't rate this book since I can't read it, but I will say I have enjoyed the other Miss Julia books I have purchased and loaded on to my Nook
