Imagine Aunt Bee from The Andy Griffith Show with a lot more backbone and confidence," wrote Publishers Weekly about Miss Julia, Ann Ross's endearing Dixie doyenne of decorum. In her latest romp, Miss Julia—now Mrs. Sam Murdoch—returns from her whirlwind elopement, only to find herself roped into Hazel Marie's scheme to raise money by throwing a beauty pageant. Though it all seems a tad distasteful, it's nothing compared to the revelation that Pigeon Forge, the marriage mill across the state line that wedded Julia and Sam, might not be legitimate. And a flustered Julia can't help wondering whether she and Sam can keep up appearances before the town finds out they might be living in sin.

Yes Miss Julia is back and more fun than ever. I truly enjoy Miss Julia and everyone that she is involved with. No one should feel that he or she is being put down by any racist remarks because that is how people are here in North Carolina. So onward Miss Julia and Abbotsville.

Daughter of the Moon Chapter 2 I raced through the halls, my best friend, Ella, breathing hard behind me. "Come on, Luna! Why do........we have to go this fast?!?" "We don't want to be late for English on the first day!" I exclaimed. She groaned nd rolled her eyes as we slid into our seats. "We're three minutes early!" "Three minutes and thirty seconeds Ella. Do you have you summer reading essay?" I asked as she rolled her eyes. "Of course." She rummaged through her messy binder. "It ahould be right here......" she trailed off. "It isnt there!!!!!" As she tore through her binder, I got this weird tingling feeling running down my back. "Um.....I have to go to the bathroom." I muttered, thhen ran off. Once inside, I closed the stall door and stared at my hands. They were covered in fine silver glitter! I tried to rub it off, but nothing happened. Suddenly, silver sparks jumped and leaped around in my eyes and when they cleared, her paper was in my hand!!!! I shook my head, pinched myselg and rubbed my eyes but it was real. No time to think, I ran back into class and slid into my seat, thirty seconed before the bell. I placed her essay on her desk wordlessly, and she stared at me, mouth wide open. "Where did you get this?!?!" She demanded. "I found it. In the bathroom." She stufied me closly. "Did you take it before?!" "No!" I snapped, shocked. She shrigged, and silver sparks danced in my vision again. It was weird. Now I could hear many things. The electricity running in the walls, Ms. Lichens nearing footsteps....... ms. Lichens footsteps! "The teacher is coming" I hissed to Ella aand we sat up straighter. Thirty minutes later, nearly everyone was asleep. "Ms. Lichen, can we have a party?" The class clown laughed. "Yeah!" Everyone said, including me. When I said it, hr eyes became unfocused. "Sure." She said. We all cheered and I stared at my hands in wonder. Through the rest of the day, I made class more easy or more fun for others. I was in a great mood when I got on the bus. Nicolas saved me a seat and he was staring at his hands, which I noticed were glittering gold. "Nice day, huh?" I commented. "Yeah." He agreed. End of chater 2 By dandelionleaf. Continued in mext book

Chapter eight: i am woken by a prodding in my side. My eyes flutter open and i see a shecat. I immediently start thinking of when i was washed to shore and found by Sunflower. I thought about her but mewed a half hearted, hello. Im Riverpaw. The shecat purred. Im Gem. Nice to meet you. I nodded and tried to sit up, but fell back down from weakness. I was stuck in that river for days, but it felt like forever, i told Gem. Do you know exactly how long? She asked. I shook my head. No idea, it turned into a tunnle with a cover, so i had no light or any way of knowing how long i was there for. She nodded to him, then ran into the forest and returned with two rabbits and a vole. Eat up, she mewed. I nodded thankfully and devoured all of the prey. I sat up, feeling my strength return. Thank you, he mewed. I come from Fogclan, but our clan was ruined by a forest fire. Everyone scatered. I told her everything from how i got to Fogclan, to being on the river. She listened intently to every word then stood up. Lets get you back to my den. Im a rouge, but, i cantake care of you. You see, theres not really a clan around here. Thats why i live here. She told me. I smiled and mewed, thank you. Chapter nine: i spent about a moon with Gem before i decided i should try and find some cats from Fogclan, especially Sunflower. I left Gem and traced the river backwards to get back to the old Fogclan camp. I arrived back at the burnt and broken camp about a moon later. No one had bothered to return. I hoped for the best, and prayed to Starclan someone would come back. I found some moss and laied it in the clearing. I made a soft nest and curled up. I watched the sky and eventually fell asleep. Chapter ten: i had waited many moons for someone to return. I had finally given up hope and followed the river back down, hopeing maybe to come across a clan that would hold a Fogclan cat their. I stoped at the point where i was dragged away from everyone else, and followed the path that Nightstar and Sunflower had taken. I came across a camp and padded inside. They welcomed me into their clan with open arms and i lived there for many more moons. The day after i had arived their though, i heard the Jadeclan leader, Coralstar, announce my warrior name, Rivertalon. I wishe di could have shared that moment with Sunflower. After another moon or two, i decided to keep searching. I followed the river and searched more clans. I still had no luck. I had given up on most hope and finally stumbled upon a clan where i would stay for good, Blazeclan. Epologue: many nights i still hear the yowling of my mother, the rapids of the water, the crackling of the fire. I still feel the water dampining my fur, the warmth of my mother, and how good the two rabbits and the vole tasted. As i settled down in Blazeclan i have found a new love and mate, Goldenstar. I am very loyal now to my clan and would do anything for them, but i'll still never give up hope on finding a Fogclan warrior, or my best friend and first love Sunflower. I hope you enjoyed my story! Sorry about it expanding onto so many pages/books/reviews! Please vote for me!-Rivertalon

I am enjoying this book as much as the previous five in this series. Miss Julia is a hoot! You never know what she's going to get herself into next. Once I start one of these books, I can hardly put them down. To the anonymous person who appears to be offended by Lillian, James & Laticia's dialect, there are many people who really do speak this way. Not just black people, but I know of white people also. I do not believe the author is being racist because these characters are very much loved by the other characters and are treated with respect, almost like part of Miss Julia's family. Maybe if you start with the first book and read all of them, you will be able to see that also.

Like the previous Miss Julia books, this one is fun. I'm not sure it's the best - but maybe. . . . .! Anyway it's the perfect summer getaway for almost anyone to enjoy. One just has to wonder. . . what's next for Miss Julia?

I had never read a book from this series and picked it up as a summer read. It was moving right along until it reached dialogue between the cooks Lillian and James and then, ultimately, the great grandchild. These characters could have just come in from the field as slaves given their language and dialect. It was like reading Huckleberry Finn (and not in the best sense). Surely African Americans must be offended by the dialogue - sho nuff. It is embarassing.... O.K. maybe Lillian and James are very, very old. But the child is reportedly 5 years old (or so) This is really a difficult book to read because it makes the reader so uneasy with what feels very racist in 2006. Finally, the main character is so 'correct' seems like she could help the child to express herself in a manner similar to her own grandchild. This book conveys a really negative message.
