Miss Rosalind Lacey has spent all her 26 years in the country, quietly managing the lives of her widowed father and five younger siblings. When she learns she has contracted the illness that killed her mother, she decides to spend her last few months doing all the things she's never had the time or opportunity to experience. With the help of her worldly and notorious aunt, the simple country miss is transformed into a dashing Town sophisticate who cuts a wide and wild swath through London Society. Great Fun!

Clever, fun "what if you only had so long to live and were a regency wallflower?" Check out the fun one formerly dowdy gal can have! Candice Hern never disappoints...and Miss Lacey is no exception.

    Great love story!

I really enjoyed this romance. Rosie was such a joy, and a great reminder to live as if you're dying! I cant wait to read another from this author.

    Cannot put it down!

Always gravitated to this era even though it had the Pride and Prejudice sensibilities connnected to it.
Candice took those sensibilites but subtly added a "little" spice to attract the modern womens sensibilities. She struck gold with me!
I had both in this book and I can hardly wait to read the others!

    interesting

I enjoyed this. It got rather trite at the end. But the storyline was rather good and at least different from boy meet girl.

I'm getting rather tired of stupid people, though. I guess if the characters weren't stupid there wouldn't be a story, would there?

    Really enjoyed this book!

I loved the story line - Miss Lacey finds she doesn't have very long to live, so she decides to visit her aunt in London and live what time she does have to the fullest! She becomes the talk of the town! Her joy and zest for life are refreshing. It was hard to put this book down - so I didn't until I was finished! Thoroughly enjoyed Miss Lacey's Last Fling!

    Absolutley Lovely

I really enjoy Candace Herns books and this one is perhaps my favorite. Its a decptivly light read dealing with a tough subject: what would you do if you knew you had but months to live? Herns writing flows effortlessly and personally I just think she is the queen of dialogue. This is definetly a keeper.

    So wonderful

This is one of those book that makes a person sit back and think about there own life. It so makes a person want to go out and do everything possible before the unexpected happens. Thanks for such a wonderful book Ms. Hern.

    Simply wonderful!

I downloaded this book because I have enjoyed all the other books I've read by Candice Hern. But when I read that this book was about a woman who thinks she's dying, I thought it might be a bit too depressing for me. I could not have been more wrong. This was the most joyful, uplifting, feel-good story I've read in years. Rosie was so full of life, figuring she had so little of it left. Max, bored with life, was a perfect foil for her. They each learn valuable lessons about life and love. The ending was absolutely splendid. Kudos, Ms Hern, on another wonderful story!

What would you do with months left to live?

A mousy country miss, believing herself terminally ill, goes to London armed with her ever-growing list of things to experience and brings a zest for life back to an almost terminally bored rake. It's hard to put the book down as Rosie grows more and more daring, moving from one madcap adventure to the next, refusing to let the society matrons govern her life. The book takes you all the way from laughter to tears as Rosie discovers the true nature of her symptoms, and has to decide how to live the rest of her life.

    Delightfully different Regency

I devoured this book in one sitting, thoroughly engaged from the first page. Rosie has been suffering from the blinding headaches that preceded her mother's death, and has been told she has only 6 months to live. Never having done much living, she decides she wants to spend her last days wringing every ounce of pleasure out of life. She calls on her notorious Aunt Fanny to help her out. Enter Max, a jaded libertine who has done more than his share of living, and who is bored enough to consider following his friend Freddie's lead in ending it all. Aunt Fanny helps the plain country mouse Rosie transform herself into the elegant, fashionable Rosalind. Max finds Rosalind to be the most irresistible woman he's met in years, and suddenly his boredom is at an end. These two were perfect together. Rosie/Rosalind really kicks up her heels in London, with Max looking on with a smile and a gradually melting heart. I don't want to give away what happens, but the turn of events when Rosie learns she is not dying (that's not really a spoiler - she's the heroine and we know she won't die) really tugged at my heart. The scene where everything comes right again is hysterical. Funny, touching, and full of the Regency flavor I love, this is a special book. If this was a printed book, it would be on my keeper shelf.
