    Miss Loser

Miss Popularity by Francesco Sedita Miss Popularity is a book about a girl named Cassie who lived in Texas her whole life and is now about to move to Maine with her family. At Cassie's old school she was extremely popular but now at her new school that's not the case. Back home everyone wore colors to define themselves, especially Cassie. But here in Maine, Cassie's a rainbow colored clown fish in a school of flounders wearing blazers. Cassie isn't the most popular girl, but she's trying back on her throne of popularity... When I first saw this book, it was in a magazine book review. It seemed interesting so I bought the book. I couldn't wait to read it, but I was look at its overly colored cover, literally I judged a book by its cover. When I did finally read it I was disappointed and annoyed by it. It was hardly a book, more of short story. The magazine should have just printed chapters in it fiction article for each of its editions. Maybe then I could keep my attention on it for more then 5 minutes. Unlike its colorful cover Miss Popularity is amazingly dull, there is no character growth at all, no interesting drama or suspense, and hardly any emotion that makes you want to empathize, or anything, with the character(s). It just another one of those ¿moving to a big bad school where no one accepts me, even though at my old school I had tons of friends¿ books. The conflict is frankly predictable and bland. New girl vs. Mean ¿popular¿ girl, not very original. To me it reminded me of a Jr. Clique book, only without the drama, scheming, heightened feelings, plotting...pretty much everything, except for the fashion, there's no spice to it it's flat. Also, it didn't have a challenge in it, no new words to learn, no questions asked at all either... I recommend this book only to advanced beginner readers and elementary girls. I may not like Miss Popularity but maybe younger readers might. The plot's easy to follow and easy to read. But by my standards I give this book 1 star. ~Felicia Bartoli

    Miss popularity.

I just finished this book about a week ago and I have to admit, I was pretty SICK. I know that a lot of people liked this book, but it's not as wonderful as everyone makes it seem. Let me tell you the reasons why this is a terrible book. 1. The title: miss popularity. This book is about a girl obsessed with clothes, makeup and boys that moves to a "boring" school in Maine and can't understand the girls there because they don't dress as fancy as her. Really, what kind of example is that? 2. Why write a book about dumb middle school drama. ALL candy apple books are about crushes, popularity, gossip, and friends fighting. What's so fun about that? Why not read a book that makes you want to stay up until midnight reading it, or make you want to go inside the book because you love the characters and the story? Why read a candy apple book that's about as deep as a baby pool instead of reading a good book that has a moral, a good story, and that actually makes snese? Please, what's wrong with all those people! 3. Don't buy this book, I mean, this waste of trees. if you are a popularity obsessed middle school girl, then go ahead, read it, I don't have a problem with that. But if youre looking for a good book that you'll remember forever, I guarantee you'll hate "miss popularity".

Reviewed by Allison Fraclose for Teens Read Too

Cassie Cyan Knight has got it all: popularity, awesome friends, great personality, and, most importantly, a killer fashion sense. Even her parents are cool, which is why Cassie doesn't hold a grudge against them when they drop the bombshell. Her dad got a promotion, and, in two weeks, Cassie will be transplanted from sunny, friendly, fashionable Houston to the frigid ice storms of Maine. Cassie doesn't let it get her down, though. She's nervous, sure, but with a few encouraging words from her best friend, Cassie feels like she can tackle anything. However, her new classmates at Oak Grove Middle School seem determined to shoot down Cassie's upbeat attitude. They're rude, they make fun of her Texas accent, and even mock her bright, happy wardrobe choices. Clearly, the population of Oak Grove Middle needs a reminder that there are fashion options outside of boots and fleece pullovers. With the help of a kindred spirit or two, Cassie jumps right in to find her fabulous niche at Oak Grove Middle, even if it means butting heads with Mean Mary Ellen McGinty, who refuses to admit that fashion might have a place in their school. I had a few issues with this book, mainly with the lack of flaws in the main character and the unbelievable circumstances of there being absolutely no fashion clique at Oak Grove. One other major issue comes from the heavy name-dropping of products and companies in the fashion industry. They are so peppered throughout that sometimes it feels like one big advertisement. Be that as it may, though, Cassie's attitude throughout her trials was refreshing, and could serve as a good pep talk to those younger girls who might need reassurance that they are in charge of their own happiness.

    Miss. Popularity is soooo awesome!!!

This book is a story of a Texan who moves to Maine and she is really fashionable! Nobody at her new school has color. So, the first week of school, somebody named Etoile becomes friends with her. So, at the end of the year, they planned something really special and now, the Texan is more popular.

    Fashionistas will rule the world!

When Cassie moves to her new shcool she doesn't really fit in but later in the book she does. I absolutely love this book because I am a true, pure fiahion diva myself! The whole idea is about being stylish and showing who you are no matter what and Cassie did that. Props to all aspiring true fashion lovers!

    Hurray for Miss Popularity!

Miss Popularity is such a great book! I loved how the main character of Cassie was able to overcome her doubts about being the new girl and fitting in, all by being true to her own personality and letting her talents and her passion for fashion shine. This story is so sweet and smart and funny, I wish Cassie would move to my school! All girls should be so lucky to have a best friend like Cassie!
