What a woman wants…
The only person who ever understood what Julia Radley wanted most in life was the man who ruined her reputation and secured her victory in a bold swimming race. She does not hold Valentine Merton accountable for the harsh criticisms made against her character until he suggests the only way to smooth over the scandal of his defeat is to wed as soon as possible.
… the gentleman must dare.
After picking himself up after proposing, Valentine Merton is even more determined to tame the wild girl next door. The future he wants within the clockmaker’s guild depends on their speedy marriage. A few sweet words or, as a last resort, another brazen dare is sure to persuade her to take a chance on him… and his family.
A sizzling regency historical romance.

Good read, looking forward to the next book in this series.
MISS RADLEY'S THIRD DARE is a sweet historical romance about a headstrong, athletic young heroine trapped in a time that valued women for their grace and femininity, qualities Julia Radley doesn't seem to have in any great quantity. Julia has energy to spare which she channels into feats of strength and endurance, such as running and swimming. The only person who seems to understand her need to expend this excess energy is Valentine Merton, the wretch whom society blames for ruining her by engaging in a swimming contest with the lady. Valentine isn't exactly chomping at the bit to marry Julia, seeing her instead as a good friend with whom he can openly converse. Julia feels the same, but as time passes and the scandal begins to die down, Julia and Valentine find themselves moving past friends into something more. This is a very straight-forward, almost formulaic historical romance. There's a villain, a treacherous family member, and some outside conflict pushing our hero and heroine together. It's a little bit of a stretch to believe the clockmaker society's motives, but there's a fun little twist towards the end that makes the reader laugh and understand what's really been going on behind the scenes. There's only one real "love" scene, so I've categorized this as a "sweet" romance. The love is seen more through the emotional and intellectual connection shared by Valentine and Julia moreso than any great passion or steamy love scenes. It's quite mild. I enjoyed reading Heather Boyd's book, Miss Radley's Third Dare. Valentine and Julia's story was a fun read. My Boyd has penned a well written book with lovable characters, drama and humor. Miss Radley's Third Dare is book 3 of the Mayhem series, but can be read as a stand alone. I look forward to reading more from this talented author. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for review purposes.
Are you looking for a fun sizzling hot historical romance to enjoy this summer? Oh my do I have a recommendation for you. Miss Radley's Third Dare may just be what you are looking for. I know I thoroughly enjoyed it. Miss Julia Radley is one of those character that I just couldn't help but adore right away. This lady has a way of getting into mischief without really trying. She is a little daring, loves a great adventure, and really doesn't give a hoot what society says is fitting for a lady. She strong and independent and loves to push the edges of priority just a little bit. Valentine Merton has dreams of his own that he wants to pursue much to his family's dismay. He's facing some wrath from society for his part in Miss Radley's Dare to race each other in a swimming contest. Valentine has a sweet side that is way to charming not to fall for. What I found the most attractive about him is the support he has for Miss Radley. These two are a great match and a whole lot of fun to watch has their relationship changes. They already have a nice base of friendship even though there is a slight bit of friction to begin with. Both Julie and Valentine have strong independent natures. They both have dreams that are not at all what their family sees fitting for them. However they are both determined individuals that are set to try to do what they want. The attraction between Julia and Valentine is smoldering hot with the possibility to explode at any moment. The touch of friction in their relationship only adds to their attraction for each other. This is the third book in the Miss Mayhem series. If you haven't had a chance to read Miss Watson's First Scandal or Miss George's Second Chance, don't worry, Miss Radley will stand alone just fine. However if you may want to pick up the first two books in the series as well because they are just as awesome as Miss Radley's Third Dare. If you are like me and have read the previous two books then you will find a few friends make an appearance in this story. Overall Miss Radley's Third Dare is a great friends to more story, with a bit of drama, a steamy scene or two, a few really sweet romantic moments, adventure, and charismatic characters. Heather Boyd has a way with words that always has me engrossed in the story from the first page all the way to the end. Then once I reach the end I can't wait to get my hands on her next release. I can't wait to see what Miss Boyd has in store for the next book in this series. I am sure it will be wonderful. I am already impatiently awaiting it's release. I was given the opportunity to read this fabulous story so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Miss Radley's Third Dare.
A steamy historical read. Julia Radley’s reputation is in ruins due to a scandalous swimming race with her neighbor. Valentine Merton wants to join the clockmaker’s guild and learns engaged or married men are more accepted can he dare Julia into marrying him and save her reputation and join the guild to advance his career in the process? This is a fun, steamy read. I enjoyed the story as well as the characters. An enjoyable historical romance.
