Overview

Why did Miss Twiggley live in a tree? Why did she send her dog, Puss, out to do the shopping? Why did she always run away and hide when people came to visit? And it was rumored that Miss Twiggley had even more peculiar habits...

Old Miss Twiggley
Was friendly with bears.
"They shed on the sofa," she said,
"But who cares?"

And was it true, as the mayor's wife had heard, that she actually slept in her hat? "Simply disgraceful!" they said. But when a hurricane hits the town and the water rises, everyone is grateful to Miss Twiggley and her tree. Even better, Miss Twiggley herself learns a very important lesson, with a warm and happy ending

I recently was a "Mystery Reader" for my granddaughter's Kindergarten class. There was no doubt in my mind which book I would read! Miss Twiggley's Tree has been a favorite of my now grown children, as well as our nine grandchildren. The Kindergarten class loved it. The book was new to the Kindergarten teacher, so I was happy to leave the book for the class to enjoy.

I read this book all the time as a child! My mom gave her copy away to my brother for his son, so I was thrilled to see it! I am going to read it to my own children and pass it down to them.

I absolutely loved this book as a kid (and I still have it). I took it to read at school twice when my kids were in 1st grade. Now I'm buying this for a shower present because the mom-to-be requested that we give our favorite childhood book.

This is my favorite book from when I was a kid. I have most of the booked memorized and still love to share the story - even though I'm pushing middle-age! The story and moral is just precious. Don't overlook this fabulous, well-written book!

This was one of my all time favorites as a child; I can still recite most of the book. My Mom and I searched for used copies of this book prior to my son's birth and we were both thrilled to find a new edition available. I have given this book to all of my nieces and nephews as well as just about anyone else I know who has young children!

This was the first book I learned to read by myself when I was little and would read it over and over to my poor Grandmother. I've looked for years for this book because it teaches us that begin different is good.I always wanted to live in a treehouse too. What an amazing lesson to teach, to accept everyone because of their differences.

When I was a child, my mother used to check this book out of our local library and read it to me as often as possible. For years, we searched for a copy to purchase but were unsuccessful. A few years ago I finally found a pristine copy on Ebay and paid $76.00 only to discover that it had been reprinted. I bought a copy for my niece and she loves it just as much as I did. This book is a must.

My mom had this book when she was little and passed it on to me. When my aunt had children, I was forced to let the book on down the family. My mom and I were heartbroken. We have been constantly looking for this book for years. A few years ago, my mom found it on ebay and paid $81.00 for it!!!! That's just a testimony to how amazing this book is!

I had this book as a little girl and loved it ever since. I recently bought an old edition, paid too much, and I'm thrilled it is available again. My children now are falling in love with the old lady who lived in the tree with the dog named puss...oh get the book and read the rest!!!

My husband and I read this book (of which we have the original from when he was a little boy) to our 4 year old daughter. The storyline is great, and the rhyming appeals to young ones who love rhyme and rhythem. Our daughter loves this book, and we hope that our baby son will one day too.

Finally! Someone has re-published my all-time favorite picture book! I've obsessed over this thing since I was 4 or 5 years old; I'm now 26. I'm not 'into' children's books, but this one has a special place in my heart. A masterfully simple story.

Miss Twiggley's Tree is a classic. It was read to me when I was a child and I memorized it then and I still haven't forgotten it. I'm a teenager now, and it is still one of my favorite books to pick up.

This has to be my all time favorite. I recall reciting it to my class when I was in second grade. I was supposed to be reading it - but I had the book memorized. The story always bring a smile to my face!

This is a book that was read to my sisters, brother and me when we were children. It was a favorite for all of us and we memorized it. It is a wonderful story that children and adults will really enjoy sharing.

I have owned the original of this book for years. It is my all time favorite and the story itself, the pictures and the moral are all top ten. What does one do when in times of trouble? Help others, of course! It doesn't matter if your dog is named Puss and you live in a tree!
