Praise for Steelheart, book on in the Reckoners series:

[STAR] “Snappy dialogue, bizarre plot twists, high intensity action, and a touch of mystery and romance; it’s a formula that sucks readers into the prologue, slings them through one tension-filled encounter after the other, and then...leaves them panting for the sequel.”—Booklist, Starred

“The near-constant action, Sanderson’s whiz-bang imaginings, and a fully realized sense of danger… make this an absolute page-turner.”—Publisher’s Weekly

“Perfect for genre fans who love exciting adventure stories with surprising plot twists.”—School Library Journal

“A straight-up Marvel Comics–style action drama featuring a small band of human assassins taking on costumed, superpowered supervillains with melodramatic monikers.”—Kirkus Reviews

“Fantastic! The suspense is relentless and the climax explosive, with a resolution that I’ll be thinking about for a long time.” —James Dashner, New York Times bestselling author of the Maze Runner series and The Eye of Minds

“Unfortunately for my ego, Steelheart is another win for Sanderson, proving that he’s not a brilliant writer of epic fantasy, he’s simply a brilliant writer. Period.” —Patrick Rothfuss, author of the New York Times and USA Today bestseller The Name of the Wind

    A fun short story.

A great "now what?" story to follow up Steelheart. I liked seeing what happened to Newcago without waiting for book two in the series.

    An excellent interlude.

Mitosis is an excellent short story by Sanderson that serves both as a tense, concise adventure and to bring to light a new piece of the puzzle in humanities struggle to freethemselves from the tyranny of the Epics. Bring on Firefight!

    Witty and Engaging

Sanderson once again shows his ability to craft a funny and action-packed story despite the fact that this is a short story. It fits the pattern of Steelheart and only make me more anxious to get Firefight when it comes out. For people new to Sanderson: You will get hooked no matter which series you read.

As someone who loved Steelheart this book is the perfect hold over until the next book comes out. It is short but when you are reading you won’t feel that way. It is like an episode of a television show. I was enthralled from the minute I started reading, dropped directly back into the world of the Reckoners and Epics. I loved this book. You will find your $1.99 well spent and if you haven’t already bought and read Steelheart you will want to do that before you buy this book. Can’t wait for the full sequel but even if the author decided to put out a couple more of these in the mean time I wouldn’t complain. It is a spectacular effort.
