Hilary Robinson (Author)
Hilary Robinson is the author of over 40 children's books including the top selling Mixed Up Fairy Tales and The Copper Tree. She is also a broadcaster and freelance BBC radio producer. Hilary was born in Devon and brought up in Nigeria and England. Her books have been translated into a number of languages and are sold across the world.

Nick Sharratt (Illustrator)
Nick graduated from St Martin's School of Art in 1984 and has been working as an illustrator ever since. His work encompasses books for babies through to books for early
teens and he has produced around 150 books to date. He is perhaps best-known for his illustrations for the multi-million selling author Jacqueline Wilson, but as well as this, he writes his own picture books and collaborates with various reputed picture book writers, on books such as PANTS and EAT YOUR PEAS.Recent awards include the Children's Book Award, Sheffield Children's Book Award, The Stockport Schools Award, the Experian Big Three Award. He has also been nominated for the 2003 Kate Greenaway Prize.

A four part, split page format turns a dozen or so familiar folktales into thousands, as children can mix or match the parts at will to make silly, sometimes loaded versions: "Ali Baba . . . put on a bright red cape . . . and dreamt about marrying . . . the Marquis of Carabas." "Jack . . . cried 'Open sesame! . . . And hid away among the reeds before turning into . . . a bowl of soup." The texts are big enough to be visible from across a room, and Sharratt adds plenty of color with bright cartoon versions of instantly recognizable characters or types. The spiral binding (within a standard cover) will likely wear out, but each new flip will elicit gales of laughter from young (and perhaps not so young) audiences. A hoot.
