Overview

US Special Forces in Vietnam created and trained the Civilian Irregular Defense Group, a large paramilitary organization designed to operate out of fortified camps in remote areas and protect the local population from Viet Cong incursions, whilst conducting border surveillance, raids and combat patrols in the local area. Their fortified camps were often overrun by the Viet Cong and, having no spare manpower, the US Special Forces created dedicated reaction units which could act in a responsive and flexible manner - Mobile Strike (MIKE) Forces.

This book examines the MIKE units, which were formed from the CIDG, the parachute and airmobile training they were given, and the operations that they undertook, from relieving friendly camps to large-scale independent offensive operations. Written by Gordon L. Rottman, a former US Special Forces soldier in Vietnam, this title provides the first organizational history of the MIKE forces in this conflict.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"In this book [author Rottman] does a subperb job of telling the story of MIKE forces, something that was initially quite confusing to this reader who knew nothing about them, aside from hearing the name from time to time... It all makes for a superb read and one that I personally found quite interesting. I'm sure you will as well and can recommend this one to you without reservation." -Scott Van Aken, modelingmadness.com (May 2007)

    Tested for weakness part two

I glared at him, trying to stay calm. "Where the he<_>ll am i?" Of course the guy didnt answer. Insted he introduced himself as "master 6". "And why youre here, ms. Collins, is that we are testing boys for weakness. Not se*, we would never do that. The other 7 masters test their 'resistance' as they call it. You were chossen along with nine other girls your age. The girls move from cabin to cabin dayliy." He paused to let this sink into me. I listened. "If i do this will you let me go?" With my luck, master 6 noded. "Yes. You will start with cabin one. You may go there." He unstraped me, and with that, i went across the clearing to the first cabin. <p> part three comeing soon to result 4
