Overview

Mocha on the Mount is part of the Coffee Cup Bible Studies, a series of Bible studies for women in compact, workbook format that examine the "life and times" of certain Bible characters and the books of the Bible that pertain to them. Each study is to be read over a four-to-six week period, and study sections are broken down into short, daily segments designed to fit reader's busy lifestyles.

Understanding that time is precious, the Coffee Cup Bible Studies are patterned in such a convenient  way that they can be read during brief windows of opportunity  that allow for meditation and study (breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks, etc.) Scripture is provided from the NET Bible (New English Translation), making Bible study convenient for occasions when you can't carry a Bible.

Sandra's unconventional thought processes regarding the Sermon on the Mount and the Beatitudes are sprinkled throughout the study. As a result, she shatters preconceived notions about what Christ teaches in this address He delivered more than two thousands years ago.

    Prepare to be spiritually x-rayed!

This is the most convicting book that I've read out of the series. This 6-week walk through Jesus' Sermon on the Mount is for every women who desires to take an honest spiritual inventory on her walk with the Lord. And like the other books in this series, Sandra again breaks this passage down section by section, giving practical applications and devotional thoughts. Perfect for group study or individual devotions.

    Straight to the heart

Ms. Glahn doesn't mess around with irrelevant or pointless questions. She gets right to the heart. From the very start, I was convicted yet found myself engrossed and compelled to go on. I believe this study is life-changing in that it teaches what the heart of the matter was/is to Christ - inward righteousness. If you want to lead your ladies to a deeper walk and knowledge of the Savior, this will surely do it.

    Smell the coffee brewing.

A rich blend of personal insight and theological training combine to make the Coffee Cup Bible series full of possibility for spiritual growth. Whether two or twenty people meet to interact with the weekly lesson and share their own answers to probing questions, everyone will appreciate the lovely format and original style. A practical, friendly tone leads to personal application of biblical truth. From Mocha on the Mount, for example, ¿What are some ways people demonstrate that they¿re enslaved to money?¿ Then, ¿List evidences that you¿ve been affected by materialism?¿ Sandra Glahn reveals vulnerability as she raises questions contemporary women confront. Six lessons in each compact book contain the scripture, commentary and discussion questions (Espresso with Esther has five weeks of lessons). Planning a women¿s Bible study to correspond with the school year, this series lends itself to complete two studies before Christmas, then after the break, offer two more. If you do one study, you will want to complete them all.

    Great discussion questions

Relevance is the key word. I love the Coffee Cup Bible Study series. This series is written for women by a woman of wit and graciousness who has an impressive command of hermeneutics. I couldn¿t wait to get started with Mocha on the Mount. I¿ve been to the place called the Mount of Beatitudes and felt as if I were back there again as the scripture unfolded. Ms. Glahn draws us into history and expands our view as she weaves other scripture and stories into the picture. We can see God¿s same message in other lives and other settings. She is especially effective at expounding on the Greek and Hebrew words that bring color and relevance to the lessons. It is so helpful to have the Biblical text printed in the study. I always have it with me.

    A Great Bible Study Series!

Mocha on the Mount was my second experience with the Coffee Cup Bible Studies and I loved it, too! (My first read in the series was the study of Esther.) Mocha on the Mount is a six-week study of Matthew 5-7 -- six weeks of reflecting daily on Jesus' teachings. Very powerful! Like the Esther study, this one is also very readable and full of rich spiritual insights, as well as, thought-provoking questions. Other features that I like are the compact size, the spiral bound cover, scriptural text included, and daily study portions that are easily manageable in one's day. I am now looking forward to participating in a group study this summer with the ladies from our church with Mocha on the Mount.
