Mod Mex Bursting With Intriguing Flavors

Mod Mex is a cookbook that showcases Mexican food the way it was intended. Fresh food, bursting with flavor, and highlighted with intriguing accents. This cookbook is filled with many of the authentic Mexican recipes made with modern ingredients as well as twists on traditionally American favorites. I had just finished eating the chicken enchiladas with salsa verde and mole at Dos Caminos in Las Vegas and was delighted to find out that Scott Lindquist had made Mod Mex available. Raised in Los Angeles with numerous authentic Mexican restaurants, I appreciate the mole recipe and the dedication to the use of ingredients. The recipes were easy to follow. Most supplies were available at a local market. The photography complemented the recipes and gave the home chef great visual cues for the food and plating. Finished items were full of fresh foods that are healthy. They had lots of color and were delicious. Some of the highlights are Ensalda Buena Noche, Sopa De Elote Con Calabaza, Guisado De Costillas, and Chocolate Layer Cake. I highly recommend this cookbook. If you like Mexican food, you will thoroughly appreciate the fresh, modern take on this cuisine.
