Overview

Besides this 1595 novel, Anglo-Welsh gentleman and writer Parry (1540-1612) left only a diary, a collection of verse, and perhaps some translations. Simmons admits that a new critical edition of Moderatus, or The Adventures of the Black Knight will not send shock waves through Elizabethan scholarship, but does shed light on the inter-relationships between writers and readers.
