It develops new standards for halftone robustness as well as visibility, and examines a new stochastic halftoning model, green- noise, and its desirable attributes in printing. Introduces several metrics for the study of binary patterns, presenting both the ideal spatial and ideal spectral characteristics of green-noise. Examines techniques for producing green-noise and studies them in terms of their visual pleasantness and the computational complexity. Also looks at the application of green-noise to color halftoning environments. Includes color and b&w photos. The CD-ROM contains algorithms and statistics with color examples, and a guide to running software on MATLAB for converting digital images to halftones. Lau is a DSP engineer and a member of the Society for Imaging Science and Technology.
