Overview

Jared Barrett was the perfect man for Kelsey Layton…for one whole year.

What’s a girl to do when she’s seen enough of marriage and divorce to convince her that love is only temporary? Kelsey determines to enjoy dating and the giddy infatuation it involves, but never let herself forget the inevitable end.

Then Kelsey realizes her best friend, Doug, thinks he’s in love with her, while her only sister, Amy, is desperately in love with Doug. Kelsey knows love is a short-term insanity and she’s too smart to take it seriously, but Amy feels differently.

To avoid hurting her sister, Kelsey has to convince Doug that she’ll never love him…and she’s got to do it fast.

Millionaire bachelor Jared Barrett rides to the rescue.  He’s had his eye on Kelsey, his unerring instinct telling him that she’s the one woman for him.  But he knows how Kelsey feels about happily-ever-after and he’s not about to waste his breath talking.  Instead, when Kelsey mutters in despair that she needs a husband—Jared proposes.

What follows is a dance of love and a marriage of convenience with a groom who’s trying to hide his heart while convincing his bride that love really can last forever.

I received this book from the author for an honest review! As a contemporary romance the book has a good storyline. I have read several books by Carol Rose and have very much enjoyed her style of writing. Let's take Kelsey, whom tends to be a bit on the selfish side most of the time and thinks mostly of herself, she does not look forward to the possible happiness in her life, but I feel perhaps she feeds upon the negative aspect she grew up with. Her character tends to repeat often in the story instead of grow stronger and move onward with her life. Now Jared, is very much the Hot guy whom is rather self absorbed with himself and instead of using honesty resorts to deception even if for his "True Love"! This book has it all, deception, love, hate, envy, and heartfelt moments. Carol has delivered yet another great book. Check this out for yourself you won't be disappointed :)

On my device the book had 260 pages. Carol Rose has a nice writing style that make her books enjoyable afternoon reads. This contemporary romance is somewhat predictable, but most are so I wasn't bothered by that. The ending felt a little rushed. But all in all an entertaining story. The story opens with sisters Kelsey and Amy talking about their best friend Doug. Seems Amy is in love with Doug, Doug is infatuated with Kelsy and Kelsey only sees Doug as a best friend. So How can she help Doug get over his infatuation and realize it is Amy who loves him? Jared has been attracted to Kelsey for awhile now and thinks she may be the one for him. So upon hearing Kelsey mutter to herself that she needed a husband Jared proposes a marriage of convenience, 1 year of marriage. Kelsey watched her mother marry and divorce 7 times so she doesn't believe in love or marriage lasting, but she is attracted to Jared so this marriage of convenience sounds like a good plan. Jared has 1 year to make Kelsey see love can last. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Not my favorite by this author. Dont get me wrong, it is good, but the main character repeats way to many times that she can never fall in love. It gets a little annoying towards the end..... but still good story line and nice romance. Would recomend, but not as your first read by this author. Read forgotten father or healng his heart first. After you love the author then read this one.
