This is a devotional book. I normally do not use devotional books because I prefer to get my devotions directly out of the Scriptures, but this one was given to me as a gift, so I began reading a devotion a day from it since receiving it. Each devotion begins with a quote from a Psalm. Every Psalm is represented in order with some used more than once. The quote is followed by a meditation, a prayer, and another quote from the same Psalm to conclude. And each opening has a beautiful, full page color photograph. This book is like any other human production; some things will apply while others will not. Some days, the meditation seemed to mean nothing to me, while on other days it was particularly helpful to my situation. Personally, I think that the book would have been helped by being more consistent in its use of Bible translations. It uses twelve different versions from which to quote! Most of them are all right, but the one marked MSG (it stands for The Message: The New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs from 1993-1995 by Eugene H. Peterson; I never could remember what the initials stood for, so I called it the "Mono Sodium Glutamate" version) was particularly annoying with its breezy, almost slangy speech. But all in all, working my way through the book was a pleasant and uplifting experience.
I go to this when I want a few words of calming inspiration in the middle of a hectic day.
A great book from the Greatest Book ever written! TBTG!
What a great way to start your day, or find peace in the middle of a hectic day, or to end a day. I truly love it.
I do feel that this devotionalbook is one for any age and belief. It shares God's message of hope for all who read it. I will purchase the next one in the series.
