What happens when you blend the wit of Erma Bombeck and the Tiki-like cocktail recipes of master mixologist, Trader Vic? You get Janet Frongillo’s debut book, Mommy Mixology – A Cocktail for Every Calamity. Mommy Mixology is a fun mix of laugh-out-loud parenting anecdotes from conception through kindergarten – each with an accompanying cocktail recipe. Move over Dr. Spock because Ms. Frongillo certainly knows a thing or two about being in the throes of mothering. Her mix of breezy snark, pop culture references and unabashed honesty makes you feel like you’re sitting at her kitchen table laughing with an old friend about the trials and tribulations of motherhood. Parents-to-be and new parents will appreciate her candor on everything from potty-training to dealing with the PTA. Parents of older children will fondly look back on those early years and think, “it wasn’t quite so bad, maybe we should have had another.” I hope this is the first of many books to come from Janet Frongillo. Was this review helpful? I ordered this book because I am a fan of the authors blog and it lived
up to my expectations. Comedy and cocktails are a win win for me. I
took it to my sisters for a girls night in and we laughed out loud while
trying out some of the cocktails. I love the honesty with which the
author jokes about parenting. Parenting is a tough gig and sometimes we
get so caught up in trying to look perfect we can drive ourselves
insane. Janet puts herself out there in such a hilarious way it makes
you realize you're not alone in the craziness of parenting and yes it's
hard, but it's damn fun and funny too. I love this book. I've order 2
more copies to give as gifts. I like the idea of giving it as a gift
along with some of the ingredients to make the cocktails.

This original book is hysterical! I usually read in bed while my husband is sleeping. I was laughing so hard while reading Mommy Mixology that he kicked me out of the room! These stories are so true for those of us who are mommies - new and not so new! For me they brought back memories. . .
And don't forget the yummy recipes! TGI Mommy Mixology!
