Meet the Author

Back in 1984, we were next-door neighbors raising our families in the little town of Delaware, Ohio. We were two moms with small children looking for a way to do what we loved and stay home with the kids too. We shared a love of home cooking and making memories with family & friends. After many a conversation over the backyard fence, Gooseberry Patch was born.

We put together the first catalog & cookbooks at our kitchen tables and packed boxes from the basement, enlisting the help of our loved ones wherever we could. From that little family, we've grown to include an amazing group of creative folks who love cooking, decorating and creating as much as we do.

Hard to believe it's been over 25 years since those kitchen-table days. Today, we're best known for our homestyle, family-friendly cookbooks. We love hand-picking the recipes, supplied by our customers and fans, and are tickled to share our inspiration, ideas and more with you! One thing's for sure, we couldn't have done it without our friends all across the country. Whether you've been along for the ride from the beginning or are just discovering us, welcome to our family!

A Well-Seasoned Life's Early Bird Review: Mom's Very Best Recipes

My mom's very best recipe is her potato salad, tangy with mustard, sprinkled with paprika, and at its best when the potatoes are still warm. Everybody loves it! My kids would say my best recipe is seasoned noodles - vermicelli seasoned with olive oil and garlic salt. Fancy...I know! But, they've been eating it since birth and the dish means home to them.

Gooseberry Patch has captured that sense of home with their newest cookbook, Mom's Very Best Recipes. The cookbook is filled with delicious-sounding recipes from breakfast with Butter Rum Muffins to desserts such as Scrumptious Strawberry Torte. I found myself attracted to the recipes that were new and different from anything that I had seen before yet had familiar ingredients: Pepperoni Egg Rolls, Flavor Craver Shrimp Dip, Mediterrean Couscous Salad, Scalloped Cabbage, and Yummy Pork Ribs.

The recipes in Mom's Very Best Recipes may bring back memories from your childhood or they may inspire you to create future memories in your own kitchen. For the most part, these recipes are simple and affordable. And, to be honest with you, I chose my recipes because they not only sound delicious, but I already have most of the ingredients on hand. I'm just frugal like that...
