Excellent Overview of Non-European/American Schlock Movies

Tombs has obviously done his homework here, and the result is an invaluable resource for fans of pop-schlock cinema. In one book, he covers everything from kung-fu films to Filippino ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU homages to Turkish no-budget ripoffs of major Hollywood product to Japanese BDSM-flavored 'pinka eiga', and he does so with depth as well as wit. More importantly, he doesn't just do a laundry list of weird movies (which is all Lee Server's ASIAN POP CINEMA does - and gets some of the facts wrong, to boot!), but gives a straightforward history in all cases of how these movie genres came about.
