Excellent telling of a true story - beautifully illustrated!

Excellent storytelling of the fabulous Monsieur Durand's elaborate plans for his daughters' double wedding! I was so surprised & excited to find this book at my local B&N last week! My grandmother loved to tell this story, particularly since Gerome Charles Durand, Sr. was my great, great, great grandfather! (I wish I had thought to author this book.) I love that this story is actually real and historic, but almost a fairytale in nature. The colorful illustrations are a perfect complement to the story. Having had more than my share of "Kiddy Lit" college credits, I can appreciate the cadence of the story - that almost sing-song, poetic verse quality that children love. Every Elementary Teacher in Acadiana should have this book in their "Reading Nook". I purchased a copy for my lovely niece, who is a third grade teacher (and is married to the great, great, great, great grandson of Monsieur Durand) - along with a copy for myself, that I will treasure always. Thank you Rose Anne St. Romain & Joan C. Waites!!!! This is a story that needed to be told in the form of a children's book!
