Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Sesame Street's own beloved character Grover stars in this "Big Little Golden Book." He plays host, urging the reader not turn to the next page because each one brings you closer to the monster at the end. Grover uses ropes to try to tie the pages back, a brick wall to stop the page from turning, and his urgent pleas to convince you to stop at the page you are on. Of course, children will be even more eager to dive further into this book, curiosity driving them wild to see the monster. This is such a fun book that they won't even realize that they are reading. Perfect for an enthusiastic adult to share with a new reader, the text is full of energy and words seem to jump out from the pages. As far as the monster at the end of the book goes, monster phobes need not fear. 2004 (orig. 1971), Golden Books, Ages 3 to 5.

This has been one of my favorite books since I was a little girl. I have read it to all 4 of my kids. Now, I can have Grover read it to them as well! My 3 year old loves to have Grover read him the story over and over on long trips! Worth every penny!

This is one of our favorite books and the new Nook Read to Me version is excellent! My 3 and 5 year old want to hear it over and over again. Grover's voice is adorable and perfect.

I've been searching through board books available for my two toddlers. I remember this book from when I was younger. I'm so excited to see that it is available as a board book now. I was the oldest of Seven kids growing up and all of the books around the house were always "well loved". Of course back then we never had any board books. I love having board books for my toddlers since they are so much sturdier than the old paperbacks. And this is such a wonderful book for children. Grover is so funny and especially how he is so scared to find the monster at the end of the book.

This is the cutest book ever. For any child who is afraid of monsters, it shows that sometimes we scare ourselves over nothing at all. Grover is so funny and silly in this story.

This was my favorite story growing up! The pictures have the same great look as the "real" book. My niece loves the story as well. I can't wait to let her hear Grover read it to her! She will be soooo surprised.

This book is one of my childhood favorites. And Grover will even read it to you!! Best money spent on this classic for my Nook Tablet. So happy it is available.

My kids loved this book growing up, and now my grandkids can enjoy having Grover read the book to them. Your kids will get hours and hours of enjoyment from this book, as well as learning to read. It's a great book.

My daughter loves this book. She is 4 years old. Normally, she is a big fan of Elmo, but Grover is growing on her. If I can't read this book to her, Grover does. Grover's voice is exactly the same as when he's on Sesame Street. Love it!!!

The use of Grover's voice made this worth it. Still a great book for kids over 40 years later.

Nice book with grover talking. Would have gave it more stars but even with the volume all the way up you can barely hear the book being read. Even with complete silence in my house, i still have to hold it close to try and hear it.

This book won't open on Android devices, Apple devices or Windows operating system... Apparently it will only work with an actual nook, but not on the Nook app on the previous mentioned devices. This is also nonrefundable since it was edelivered even though it is useless!!!

I remember my mom reading this book to me when I was a child. My kids have enjoyed this tale of Grover, and my most recent purchase was given as a gift to my 4 yr old niece. This is the first book I think of when giving a book as a gift for a baby or child because this book will be enjoyed over and over again! It is really fun for children and parents alike, and it is a quick read (a couple sentences per page). And it is definitely not scary, it is a very humorous tale of Grover.

I loved this book when I was a little girl and was thrilled to see it offered in the nook format. I am so happy that I am able to share this book with my own children 30+ years later. The fact that the read to me feature has the story being read in Grover's voice is the icing on the cake.

I loved this book as a child (and I'm 45) and my children love this book!! You have to read it in Grovers voice and be loud at the right parts though ;-) Make reading fun and kids will never stop.

I love that this book is available for kids on the Nook because this was a book that was read to me as a child. The only issue I have with it is the "read to me" volume is so quiet that my son has to have absolute silence to hear it.
