    The Gang's (Almost) All Here

This edition of the Monster Manual has all of the most common monsters for the D&D game and covers everything from the mundane to the bizarre. Each monster has everything needed to use it effectively, including origins, behaviour, preferred habitat, and tactics. Full-colour illustrations are provided for each type of monster (including variants) and most include black-and-white concept art to provide examples of how differences manifest (for example, two or three examples of eye size and shape).

5th Edition tries to take some of the game's focus off of combat and enough information is given to use monsters in social situations (assuming the monster is intelligent enough to reason with and willing to listen, that is).

A handful of creatures are provided with template rules, allowing them to be used as modifications to the core races provided in the Player's Handbook but none are detailed enough to be used independently.

Wizards of the Coast has published a complete listing of all the included monsters on their website.
