    Real Talk

This is probably the most realistic California gang/prison non-fiction book ever.

    hardest book i ever read

I absolutely loved this book. I read it a few years back when i was still in school. My roommate had it for a sociology class she was taking. I read it and was instanly blown away. I thought i knew about the gang life but i was wrong. It was so hard for me to fathom that these gang memebers were going against each other like that were at war. It was so sad to read about the countless black males and females killed over a color. The book made me cringe several times but i couldn't put it down. Young men and women should read this book. They'll learn alot.

I read the book monster to see what it was like on the other side i am a college student who grew up in the suburbs. the book monster got my attention and kept it though out the book. the book is an exelent learning tool and really opens ones eyes who have never been exposed to what it is like growing up in and out of jail and where being shoot at is an everyday thing.

    Sincere in deed

My boyfriend read the book first and was telling me how good it was. So I decided to read it also. This book was so captivating, I now know things I did not know about the gang community. Yeah I was kinda feeling what he was doing in the beginning but as he started to change he kind of lost me. But overall the book was real... I enjoyed it.

    Reality strikes home

A very well written book, however a lot was left out.I grew up with Kody and his family and because I too engaged in gang activities and personally knew the people written about. I was overwhelmed with memmories both good and bad.I'm glad the word is getting out about the things that goes on in the hood.I now live in Virginia in order to live in peace and not to have to constantly look over my shoulder .

    This novel is deep!

This book really informs the reader about life as a gangster in South central Los Angeles. The Author of this book was actually an ex gang banger who found a way to turn his life around. He joined the Eight Tray Crip gang at the age of eleven, which did pressure him into muder and other crimes. he was in and out of jail, which still didn't stop him from banging. During his time in jail he met some people who practiced Muslim faith, Who made a big impact on his life. He converted himself to the Muslim faith and he left his gang successfully.
