The King demands that Lord Reuben send one of his daughters to marry the merciless Highlander Laird Sinclair. He selects Jolenta, his fourteen years old offspring from his second wife Sybil however his spouse suggests fifteen years old Abigail though the suggestion is monstrous as the lass is deaf. Sybil¿s plan is to hide the flaw until the barbarian consummates the marriage. The Baron says no as he does not want war or harm to come to his daughter in case the highlander considers her an abomination Emily volunteers to Sybil¿s euphoria and Ruben¿s consternation. Neither Reuben nor his female family members realize that Sinclair is more than just an aristocrat he is the chieftain of a werewolf pack. However, Lachlan Balmoral, laird and leader of a rival werewolf pack plans to destroy his enemy who has caused havoc to all the Highlanders. He abducts Sinclair¿s sister Cait and his fiancée Emily. To his chock Emily accepts his wolf essence without a blink and turns his rage into love, but Sinclair is not one to sit idly by when someone takes a possession from him. He plots to kill the Balmoral and Reuben clans after taking their women, and has a traitor within to abet his endeavors. --- MOON AWAKENING is an electrifying supernatural historical romance starring a courageous highly moral female and the werewolf who falls in love with her. The story line is fast-paced from the opening eavesdropping to the final confrontation with evil. Lucy Monroe brings to life a unique medieval Scotland filled with the paranormal, the romantic, and the intrigue as she provides a clever tale of yore that deserves sequels starring Cait and the stepsisters. --- Harriet Klausner

I am a single mother and a full time college student. I got my copy of this book in the mail at 4pm and I have stayed up until almost two in the morning now. If you read this book set aside the time to become engrossed. It will hold you captivated.

Let me tell you, the minute I picked up this book, I could NOT put it down. I'm a very big fan of medieval romance (especially Scottish ones)and this is my first time reading a paranormal one which included big strapping Scottish lairds which turned into werewolves. I read the book in one day!! I cannot wait until Lucy Monroe comes out with her second book in her Children of the Moon series!! I just wish I knew when she was coming out with her second one. Keep up the good work, you just gained another fan!!

I opened the book and started reading, after an hour I realized I couldn't put it down. The characters are wonderful and was able to picture them in my head. Lucy has a wonderful descriptive imagination. I have the next two books ready to read.

This book is awesome....I couldn't put it dowm. Lucy Monroe is already my favorite author and this book is now my favorite of hers. I was a little skeptical at first because of the historical aspect but I LOVED it. Can't wait for more in her children of the moon series! She does have one short story in UNLEASHED which is excellent....but the other 3 stories suck! Also loved READY, WILLING, AND ABLE.

Have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book! How could you not when it encompasses both a period romance and a paranormal romance all rolled into one. It is one of the most unique romance novels I have come across. The characters are well thought out as is the world/ myth of the characters (even though it takes place in the Highlands). Definately will be checking out the next novel in the series. -zittern

Shape-shifter stories never fail to draw me away from real life and give me a mental break. Moon Awakening is full of Celtic shape-shifters and wow, did they get my attention. Lucy Monroe is my go-to author for a consistently great read and this story did not disappoint at all. I love how Emily doesn’t let Lachlan’s power intimidate her and, in fact, she manages to get the man to break rules he set for his own clan! As well, I feel like I got two stories in one with Cait’s . Strong women, alpha males, and powerful, beautiful wolves. I call that a perfect distraction. I’m off to start Moon Craving. I need to catch up on this series. It's going to be a fun winter with wolves to keep me company.

Good, then ok, then truely disapointing. I feel like this book is getting a lot more praise then it probably should. Yes its a great concept and plot but, to me, its poorly executed. There's almost no action (and for a book about Highlanders i was expecting at least some), the characters were inside their heads WAY too much. After a while i'd skip a whole paragraph of them just thinking to themselves, the same thing over and over and over! Needless to say i wont be reading the rest of the series...i'm curious but not enough to spend money on it.
