Moon Grand Canyon covers the North Rim, the South Rim, and the Inner Canyon, plus gateways to the Grand Canyon, and areas beyond the boundaries of the park.

This guide highlights the best the Grand Canyon has to offer, including the South Rim’s Grand Canyon Village, the Rim Trail, Mather Point, the Yavapai Geology Museum, the Visitor Center, the South Kaibab Trail, the Bright Angel Trail and Campground, Phantom Ranch, Indian Garden, Cedar Ridge, Yaki Point, the West and East Rims, Hopi Point, the Abyss, El Tovar Lodge, Desert View, Grandview Point, the Tusayan Ruin, Marble Canyon, Lake Powell, Glen Canyon Dam, Lees Farry, the Navajo Bridge Interpretive Center, the Vermillion Cliffs, Jacob Lake, the Walhalla Plateau, Cape Final, Cape Royal, and the Transept Trail

You’ll also find suggestions for planning creative itineraries. Unique trip ideas include: “A Romantic Winter Weekend,” a handpicked escape for you and your partner when crowds are lighter, sunrises are later, and frosty temperatures make snuggling by a fireplace even more fun; “The Wild Side,” for adventurers seeking the road less traveled; and “Indian Legacy,” highlighting the ancient and modern communities that have lived here for thousands of years.

Meet the Author

Kathleen Bryant was only six months old when her parents bundled her up for her first road trip West, and she’s been traveling ever since. Among her earliest memories is watching Emery and Ellsworth Kolb’s movie about their 1911 river-running expedition at Grand Canyon’s Kolb Studio. Since then, Kathleen has returned to Grand Canyon again and again to hike its trails, raft the Colorado, and explore dusty backroads and seldom-seen overlooks.

An avid hiker and history buff, Kathleen has volunteered for the forest service, monitoring and stabilizing archaeological sites and leading visitors on tours of ruins and rock art in the Sedona area. A resident of Arizona for more than twenty years, she appreciates the way Grand Canyon holds all the Southwest’s landscapes: slickrock, forests, mountains, and desert.

Kathleen has written a dozen books, including Kokopelli’s Gift, an award-winning children’s story. Her travel writing includes Moon Grand Canyon, Moon Four Corners, and the scenic guides Sedona and Red Rock Country and Four Corners: Timeless Lands of the Southwest. In Western National Parks’ Lodges Cookbook, she combines her love of travel and history with recipes from landmark park lodges. She has also contributed stories to American Archaeology, American Artist, Arizona Highways, Sunset, and other magazines.
