Overview

Mother, wife, private investigator...vampire. Seven years ago, federal agent Samantha Moon was the perfect wife and mother, your typical soccer mom with the minivan and suburban home. Then the unthinkable happens, an attack that changes her life forever. And forever is a very long time for a vampire.

Now in MOON ISLAND, Samantha Moon is hired to look into the mysterious drowning of a super-rich hotel tycoon. The death occurred exactly one year ago, at the family’s annual retreat on a private island in the Pacific Northwest. Now, as the family gathers again, Samantha Moon is asked to find a ruthless killer—all while a massive storm bears down upon the small island. But there’s another storm brewing upon Skull Island, a storm of the supernatural kind. Sam is about to come face-to-face with evil incarnate...a monster who will stop at nothing to possess her completely—mind, body and soul—and destroy all that she loves.

Editorial Reviews

Blurb - Piers Anthony
"I enjoyed this immensely. The protagonist, Samantha Moon, is a female vampire with a husband and children. Those predate her condition; six years ago she was attacked by a vampire and rendered into one. Now she's trying to carry on with family and private eye business, and she's a feisty, skilled person, so is doing mostly okay. It is not a horror story; she buys animal blood to eat and doesn't generally prey on humans. I love this!" --Piers Anthony, bestselling author of On A Pale Horse

WOW!! I was not expecting this turn of events. Love the book and this series
just seems to get better and better. J.R. Has done it once again!!
Samantha Moon's character has really changed. She has embraced what
she is and is growing with her new self. In this book J.R. has brought back
some of the characters in the first book. I love when authors do this. It brings
the whole series into a full circle. J.R. I loved it thanks again. Can't wait for
Moon River #8 in this series.

    Another good Samantha Moon book

The stats: 473 nook pages, protagonist is a mom/P.I./vampire, similar story to Girl with a Dragon Tattoo i.e. secluded island owned by a filthy rich family harboring a deep, dark secret. I will definitely buy the next book. Good series.

    Thoroughly Enjoyable

As always, JR Rain provides an enjoyable read with the right doses of humor, sarcasm, emotion and action. The beginning was good, the middle was ok, then the end got good again. Really liked learning about the medallions and what they will potentially mean for Sam. Will be impatiently waiting to see where, Sam, Kingsley and Fang will be doing next.

    Hmm

As per his usual books, this one was great. Not a lot of money for quite a lot of story. Can't wait for the next one. I read his jim knighthorse books also and they were good. All in all you can't go wrong with his books. His stories reel you in and don't let go till the very end.

    Moon Island

    J. R. Rain you did it to me again! Lisa just thinks this series is a helluva way to enjoy my free time. I love love the Samantha Moon series. The short stories are just enough of a little snack to tide you over until the next big read. Also love the other series of other characters... Jim Knighthorse is amazing and Spinzoa...love love. Hate to say it... can you type faster?

    So-so

This was a so-so continuation of the vampire for hire series which I usually enjoy but this book fell a little flat. It followed the basic story line but had a lot of repetitive lines in the story like " I'm weird" or "this is weird" it definitely took away the desire to want to continue to read through the story. And in previous books there was some mystery in the storyline but this book is very predictable. On the good side It's a quick read and gives some insite into the metals.
