I just finished reading Vampire Moon. It is the second book in the Vampire For Hire series written by J.R. Rain. Like the first book, it takes place in Orange County, California.

This book is about a man who's wife died in a plane crash on her way to testify against a drug lord. Sam is hired by him to get justice against the drug lord because he feels his wife was murdered. She is also hired to protect a woman who's ex-husband is trying to kill her. Even from prison he's still hiring people to go after her.

I have to admit, I didn't really take this series too seriously when I read the first one. I thought it was a good and funnily written book, but it wasn't nearly what I would call a favorite. The second book has entirely changed my opinion of it though. It kept me wanting to turn the pages. I was angry when she was angry, sad when she was sad, and cheering her on all through the book. I can't wait to continue reading the rest of this series. It's definitely worth it! I wouldn't exactly put it at my top favorites, but it's close. My only concerns with this book are the same as my concerns with my first book. She uses way too many high dollar vocabulary words that many will find very frustrating.

    Dawne

Well I'm on page 200 of 458 and so far its a lot of rehashing the information from all the other books (1-7). There is at this point a minor story but as of yet its nothing to grab onto. It goes into her powers and now she has an inner (other). For those who have read the other 7 you will understand what I'm saying. Maybe it'll get better and I will change my review but at this point I'm tired of the rehashing. Get on with the story.

    Go, Samantha

I love that this character wrestles openly with the questions of right and wrong, good and evil. These are the most important issues every person faces in life.

    Stephanie Plum, NOT

The unfortunate herione bumbles about needlessly while attempting to inform the reader on the background events that have worked against her. For a trained former agent, her headlong rush to rescue loved ones is ill planned. Bounty Hunter Plum usually has some backup and sneaks up on her target

Wow was this book intense! It was fascinating. I was at the edge of my seat and was so shocked by many parts. I was also surprised at
how many times I actually gasped &/or laughed aloud! This was an issue since I was trying to be quiet while others slept around me.

There were several huge plot points that blew me away! I had longed for a few of these things to happen for way too long. My wishes
    came true. Thank you, J.R.!

Normally, I am VERY squeamish about horror. I LOVE mysteries, romance, suspense, paranormal, comedy... but horror's not my thing. It
makes me feel sick. J.R. has a way of mixing so much humor, intelligence, philosophy & an easy-going style that allows me to gladly
follow him past my typical tolerance level. Although there are some majorly disturbing scenes & concepts, I get so into his books that it's
OK. Well, way better than just OK. I love it!

I sincerely loved the story, the characters, the dialogue, the insights. I love J.R.'s slick style of writing. It's an easy read that packs a huge
wallop with its emotional intensity. Now I wonder how I am supposed to carry on life while awaiting to see what happens next! I highly
    recommend this book & series!
