Overview

Forty-four-year-old Violet Terhune wants to go back to Vermont like she wants a root canal. But, thanks to her ever-annoying little sister, that’s just where she’s headed. Penny, the quintessential apple of their mother’s eye, is engaged to a dentist. The week-long wedding-fest is booked at The Pines, the Vermont lodge where the Terhune family had spent the girls’ childhood summers.

Though she swore she would never return to the place where the owner’s son, Logan Monroe, shattered her heart years ago, Violet embarks to the rustic setting to find it run now by Logan himself.

The discovery of her girlhood diary unlocks the memories Violet has worked so hard to forget. During this whirlwind visit she and Logan confront new fears and uncertainties, and try to deny the chemistry that resurfaces between them. But, can a door stay shut once it’s been unhinged?

    Fantastic Read

Moonlight and Violet is a beautifully written novel about family relationships and second chances at love. M. Kate Quinn fully captures the reader's heart in her compelling new novel in The Perennials series.

Violet Terhune's return to The Pines proves to be as life altering now as when she visited there as a teenager. It provides her with the opportunity to take her career in a new and exciting direction. It brings peace and maturity to her relationship with her sister, Penny. It highlights the undeniable truth that her parents now need their children's support as they deal with the inevitable changes that come with growing older. And it brings her face to face with Logan Morgan, the man who broke her heart all those years ago.

The characters in Moonlight and Violet are three dimensional and breathtakingly realistic. Ms. Quinn superbly weaves past and present with Violet's diary entries and it offers added depth to Violet and Logan's renewed relationship. The secondary storylines are interesting and strengthen the novel's plot. Ms. Quinn magnificently illustrates it is never too late to find love or recapture long forgotten dreams.

Strong character development, an appealing storyline and amusing dialogue engage the reader and keep Moonlight and Violet moving at a fast pace. M. Kate Quinn tugs at the heartstrings and delivers a story that will bring laughter as well as tears. Moonlight and Violet is a rare treat that I highly encourage you to indulge in.
