Overview

Rancher Adam Sloan is more than meets the eye. As the heir to his Pack, the sexy werewolf’s biggest challenge is keeping his kin’s true nature under wraps. But a group of jaguar shifters threatens to reveal the pack, blasting into town killing humans in plain sight. And when he smells one at the local diner, his standing orders are to take her out.

Lana Turpin doesn’t realize she’s a moving target. Raised in the foster system, she only knows that she blacks out during the new moon and wakes up without remembering a thing. But now she’s being tracked by some strange organization that wants her back—even though she’s never stepped foot inside their compound. And the stranger across the diner is watching her like an enemy.

It should be a simple mission for Adam, but when he touches the frustratingly beautiful Lana, his inner wolf howls…mate. Now, the two must find and stop the people who hunt her…and Adam must keep his own family from killing the only woman he will ever love.

    Good job!

A page turner from the start! After reading (or trying to read and get through) the last five books I bought lately, this one was great. I like the way the story just flows with romance, action and mystery. I also like that the main female character does not have an annoying best friend who acts like a 14 year old. A lot of the romance stories have that annoying best friend- I hate that!!
This story was well written I look forward to this series. This book also had a HEA, on my nook it had 280 pages. So yes it is a stand alone. The next book in this series will be about our main character (Adam) brother and give us his story.
I gave this story 5 stars, that is saying a lot for me, I have not been happy with the latest reads from other authors or the misleading reviews that lead me to buy them in the first place.

Adam Sloan is next in line to lead his pack, being the son of the Alpha comes with expectations. Expectations that include aiding and protecting the pack members and keeping their identities secret from outsiders. A werewolf's biggest adversary is the jaguar shifter, when Adam smells one in his territory he seeks them out to take them out before they can bring unwanted attention to the pack by killing an innocent. Instead of the expected bloodthirsty shifter, Adam finds Lana and he gets more than he bargained for! Lana is an enigma, she turns all of Adam's beliefs on their head and that is before he discovers the conspiracies and secret organisations that are surrounding her. Can he keep her safe as they attempt to discover why she is being targeted? Will the rest of Adams pack be able to look past the fact that Lana is a jaguar and be able to accept her? Or will sacrifices need to made in order for them to be together?

I loved this new series from Lisa, it was action packed and there was more than a few surprises along the way. Adam and Lana's relationship hits more than one bump along the way, they work through their problems instead of just ignoring them or forgiving to quickly. The secondary characters are intriguing and I'm wondering if my hunch about Sebastian will turn out to be true, I can't wait until October for the next instalment in the series! This was a fantastic introduction, I couldn't put it down!

WOW! Lisa Kessler has written a best seller!!! When Adam "smells" danger in his hometown, he never realized that the danger was really his heart. Lana doesn't know who or what she is. Together they find work to find out who is hunting Lana. Will the organization tear them apart?

This book was riveting! I could not put it down!! HIGHLY recommend!!

I finished Lisa Kessler's newest book and start to a new series, Moonlight. Yes, this is a werewolf book with some jaguars. I have notice a trend of these kinds of books, but I actually really liked this book. Let me share my thoughts:
First off, the story might feel a little slow at first, but you need to keep in mind this is the start of a new series. It is very important to keep in mind, because Ms. Kessler is building the story. Plus, it's kind of important to know why certain people are getting chased and murder.
So, we have Adam Sloan who happens to be a werewolf and he's wonder why there's a jaguar in his territory. Once he stumbles upon Lana Turpin, Adam's life gets turn upside down (that's putting it mildly). Anyways, he sees something special between him and Lana, but can't face the facts that he found his mate.Yep jaguar and wolf, it's bound to get complicated. If that wasn't enough, Lana has Nero Organization chasing after, which endangers Adam's pack.
Once the story is establish, it's pretty action pack. We have a mysterious group that seems pretty evil. Then you have a complicated relationship with jaguar and wolf possibly getting together. I mean how do tell your family, "Hey I found my mate, by the way she's a jaguar." Yep, not going to go over to well. So, if you are looking for a new shifter book with wolves and jaguars with evil mystery group, you might want to give Moonlight a try. I can't wait to see what happens next.

The first book in Lisa Kessler’s new Moon Series, Moonlight is an awesome start!
We meet Lana and Adam, destined to be an interracial shifter couple. At first touch, Adam’s wolf screams mate, while Lana just wants to scream. Adam fears his family and pack will never understand, as Lana’s jaguar species has been the heart of many attacks on their wolf pack, regardless of the fact that Lana didn’t even know that she was one. Fated to hide their developing relationship, having to outrun and outsmart those trying to capture, and those trying to kill Lana, theirs is not an easy path to follow. Lana just craves someone to love, someone to call her own. She grew up in Foster Care and it has always been her dream to be a part of a family.
Excellent world building, as per the norm with Lisa Kessler’s books, lends a perfect accompaniment to the depth she builds in her characters. The alternating POV’s gives the story a new level. It’s great to see the same thing from a different view, especially when it doesn’t overlap too much so that it gets repetitive. Very nicely done Lisa!
It’s a great storyline with action, danger, romance, sizzling sexual tension and chemisty. You will be sucked in faster than you can turn the pages!
Can’t wait for the next installment.

First off I want to tell everyone who thinks they are going to point their fingers in my direction and go "HAHAHA YOU love hot shifter reads!!" Ya ya ya ya, I think I can no longer fall back on the "I have Harlequin PTSD" excuse anymore. Writers like Lisa Kessler have driven the flashbacks far back into a cobweb infested corner of my demented mind. I loved this book. I read three books of a paranormal- nature last week, one was my #TEAMVAMPIRE  review book, this one and probably should have read Moonlight last because it ruined me for the other shifter book I read.

How do I love it? Well let me count the ways, or at least give you some examples..

Lana -- Though written in a somewhat formulaic paranormal romance style of an alpha female meets alpha male and butts heads until she realizes she needs him to rescue her... Lana still ends up making the story fresh for me. There is no hint of a churned out story, Lisa Kessler has a gift.

Lana is wonderful! She has survived after being a foster kid and never fitting in, and as she has gotten older she starts to have black outs once a month during the new moon. Why do I like this about her? Well I like how she deals with it, proactively! Sure it gets her hunted, when truthfully it is her who could be hunting them *wink* but this, this is one of the reasons I adore Lana. She is one HELL of go getter!

Adam -- Adam is actually a blend of  the myriad of alpha male characters you find in paranormal romances. He is a brooding, indecisive individual who always wants to save the day and the woman he is with. Driven by the rules of the pack and his immediate attraction to Lana, which is beyond his control, his personality sometimes seems to go on Swing Ride for a bit. Made me wonder if he would ever get off! There were times I wanted to choke him!

But I was going to tell you what I love about him... I love the way he loves her. So passionately with every ounce of his being. I love how he loves his family, though will walk away from her for the woman he is meant to spend his life with, despite their differences.

What makes this completely different than most cookie cutter paranormal romances is Lisa Kessler switches back and forth from Lana and Adam's point of view. Each chapter is labeled with whose name (turn) it is and we see each of their inner struggles from their voice, not from the outside of what is going on around them. Lana's struggle to let her guard down, let Adam in and allow herself to be loved. Adam's struggle, as I mentioned, to be part of the pack or to embrace his destiny with Lana and her Jaguar shifter and to let Lana be her own woman, along with many others. It was very refreshing and very well done.

I have read a lot of books with shifters, I don't live on a hill looking down at all the urban fantasy books with my high literature and (shoving my zombie books under the couch) umm nose in the air, I swear! *snickering* Seriously! But I am not a paranormal romance reader unless it really has a good hook. Yep, I think I am taking Lisa on my next fishing trip, we will clean up and I will have a freezer full! She had me (excuse the cliche) hook line and ......... totally hot yummy werewolf ...sinker! Though I gotta admit, I liked the villains! Gotta love me the bad boys and girls, no matter how horrible they are to the team! Of course, who led those guys wrong? Just how bad were they? Could it be those who are chasing Lana? Oh heck.. wait... is that a spoiler? CRAP! HAH!

I read this almost straight through. I fell asleep after swearing at Lisa telling her she kept me up till 6 AM and woke up to finish it only go and get all fangirl on her cute ass! She really outdid herself! Thanks for giving me a great read, I have to agree with Froggarita, this may be going on my favorite reads for Urban Parnormal Romance/Shifter/HOT/reads of the year!

But between the hot yummy shifting goodness? I think this is a wonderful message of how differences do not have to be what keeps us apart. Just because one group "kills" your kind, doesn't mean all are the same... right? *wink* again .. good job...

5 - double paw prints, my friend! In honor of Lana! (cuz she's my fav)

Ms. Kessler's new series is a hit! This was a werewolf paranormal story with a twist--a pairing between species. I'm so glad something like Ms. Kessler's story came along! If different human races can intermarry, why not paranormal-human creatures? Adam and Lana's story is truly timely and wonderful--full of emotion, passion, action and mystery/suspense. Ms. Kessler's descriptive writing style brings the reader right into the story as if you were right there as a witness. I will be sure to read the rest of this series as they are released, as well as other stories in Ms. Kessler's backlist...they are and will be on my "keeper" shelf for sure.

What an awesome start to a new series by Lisa Kessler! Moonlight

What an awesome start to a new series by Lisa Kessler! Moonlight starts off in the POV of Lena who is running from some people who are chasing her..she stops in a restaurant to eat and suddenly in comes Adam. Adam is tall, dark, and oh so yummy but he is also a werewolf! While walking by the restaurant Adam smell a Jaguar, which are his enemy, and is surprised to learn it is Lana. While they are talking in the restaurant the men chasing her come in and he protects her from them and flee. Together Adam and Lana end up trying to figure out who the men are and why they want Lana.

Moonlight does switch POV from Lana to Adam throughout the book which I loved, that way we knew what both were both thinking and feeling. The book has twist and turns and was written expertly! Lisa Kessler sure knows how to keep you glued to your seat while reading her books! I absolutely loved the ending and want more in the moon series!

Impatiently waiting for book 2, Hunter's Moon! It releases in October 2013!

Warning: This is an 18+ Read Only due to its graphic content.

Wow! What a sexy and intense read! MOONLIGHT(MOON SERIES #1 by LISA KESSLER, is simply fantastic.

This book snatched me from the beginning and kept me flippin pages to see how the author was going to describe the next scene, or how she was going to justify an unexpected twist or turn. Full of emotions, tasteful sex scenes, and a suspenseful mysterious world...I did not want to put it down... life has a way of interrupting my need to feed my read.

I fell in Love with Adam and Lana as they are both so identifiable and well developed. Adam is out on a mission to find the jaguar responsible for killing people in the open. Jaguars are not typically found in Reno. So why are they there? Then he sees Lana and things get complicated all the way around. Adam is a great character, passionate, loyal, family-orientated, and very protective, and has one hell of a temper to boot.

I could identify with Lana's character quite a bit, lonely, alone, skeptical, sarcastic, and self reliable... When you are all you have to rely on, you follow your gut instincts and learn to survive.  It makes one strong, courageous, and independent. She is powerful character, even if she is negative at some points. As the story continues, she makes some decisions that ticked me off. That's cool, I LIKE characters who are strong, yet flawed.

I enjoyed this book a lot. I recommend to any 18+ Reader out there who enjoys some steam with thier paranormal romance.

I wish I could give this sexy paranormal read more than 5 stars!!!!!!                                    Good looking and too-sexy-for-his-own-good, Adam is a rancher AND destined to be the alpha werewolf of his pack. He and his pack are on the lookout for a panther who has been reported to be in the their area as panthers and weres are sworn enemies. He picks up the scent and it's coming from a cafe...

Lana was abandoned at birth and is a free lance writer. She has been experiencing episodes in which she black-outs and, after having a medical scan, is now on the run from some men who want to put her in an institution - someplace she definitely does not want to go! She is just trying to grab a bite to eat and is not thrilled when Adam saunters in the cafe and sits at her table...

When the men from the institution walk in to the cafe a few minutes later, Adam moves quickly to protect Lana to both his and Lana's surprise. So begins a scrumptiously sexy tale of rocky pitfalls and discovery for both Adam and Lana and for Adam's pack.

I've read everything Lisa has ever published and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Lisa's books. This one is truly a treat! The story enthralled me from the very beginning and it was torture to put it down! I have to confess that I've never been a fan of books about werewolves previously... but I certainly am now that I have read Moonlight! I can hardly wait for the next one in this series.

I highly recommend Moonlight to anyone looking for a captivating paranormal read. IF you don't particularly care for werewolves now, I bet you will after you read it too! It's EXCELLENT! 5 STARS! I wish I could give it more!

***Warning: this is an adult book, and for the eyes of mature readers***

    Summary (from Goodreads):

Rancher Adam Sloan is more than meets the eye. As the heir to his Pack, the sexy werewolf's biggest challenge is keeping his kin's true nature under wraps. But a group of jaguar shifters threatens to reveal the pack, blasting into town killing humans in plain sight. And when he smells one at the local diner, his standing orders are to take her out.

Lana Turpin doesn't realize she's a moving target. Raised in the foster system, she only knows that she blacks out during the new moon and wakes up without remembering a thing. But now she's being tracked by some strange organization that wants her back--even though she's never stepped foot inside their compound. And the stranger across the diner is watching her like an enemy.

It should be a simple mission for Adam, but when he touches the frustratingly beautiful Lana, his inner wolf howls...mate. Now, the two must find and stop the people who hunt her...and Adam must keep his own family from killing the only woman he will ever love.

    What I Liked:

I really enjoyed this book! I chose to read this book when I did because I had been (and still am!) under the pressure of reading a ton of July/August/September Young Adult releases that I requested a long time ago. This book already came out, but it's a respite from all those YA books that I've been reading. I love throwing an adult book in the midst of YA books, just so I get my dose of steamy every now and then!

So I really didn't know what to expect from Moonlight - because I wasn't necessarily reading it because I was dying to read it. But I was happily surprised when I started reading and was completely sucked into the story. The plot, the characters, the romance... everything was so intriguing!

The plot was filled with action! Usually, with adult romance books, it's all about the romance. While the romance played a huge part in the book, the plot clearly dominated. Basically, Lana is on the run from a medical institution, but she has no idea why they want her. She finds out via Adam, a man she runs into at a restaurant, that she is a were-jaguar, and he is a werewolf. What follows after is Adam protecting Lana from two jaguars intent on bringing Lana in to the institution (Nero, I believe). Of course, there are twists and turns along the way, and the action almost never stops!

Lana and Adam both have a voice in this novel - they switch off about every chapter (in terms of the perspective of the novel). I feel like this is excellent in terms of showing the character development for both characters. With Lana, you see exactly what she is thinking, and exactly what she thinks of Adam. With Adam, you see what he is thinking and what he thinks of Lana. The character development progressed nicely, and I loved reading how each protagonist grew, page after page.

The romance is both sweet and terrifying. Lana is afraid of being with Adam, because she knows that werewolves instinctively hate jaguars, especially when the two jaguars hunting Lana are killing and injuring werewolves. But Lana and Adam quickly fall in love, and they can't part ways. Adam keeps something from Lana that is crucial to werewolves, and that should be impossible for jaguars. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Lana and Adam! They really made sparks fly. No love triangle - just Adam acting like a jealous boyfriend whenever a male is around Lana.

This story ends very, very well! Adam and Lana get their happy ending, and then some. Aren does not get such a happy ending, and we will see him featured in the next book. Nevertheless, Moonlight was very satisfying! I'm so happy to have had the chance to read it.

    What I Did Not Like:

I guess I'm still confused about how Lana is a jaguar (since women aren't born jaguars). I mean, I know the author went into an explanation about experiments, but it didn't seem good enough, you know? And at the very end, when Lana and Adam... well, I'm not going to give anything away, but the very end - it just doesn't really make sense to me?

And I wish things with Sasha, a killer jaguar, and Sebastian, another killer jaguar, and Aren, Adam's twin brother, made sense. I can see where things are going for each of them, but in the story, I was confused towards the end, with their respective roles in the book.

So basically, I wanted to know more about the experiments and why Lana is the way she is, and more about her parents, and her life. None of this is really explained, but perhaps in later books, they will be explained.

    Would I Recommend It:

I most certainly would! I'm not sure what I was expecting with this one, but I'm glad I asked for a review copy, because I really enjoyed it! I'll definitely be hanging on to read the next book in the series! I know a lot of people are turned off by the idea of werewolf books these days (I'm one of them!), but trust me - this book is not what you might think!

    Rating:

4 stars. This yummy adult read will go by quickly and is sure to keep you invested even past the end!
