Overview

Insightful reflections; practical parallels; provocative challenges for spiritual growth

The frantic pace of today's high-tech world, promoted and sustained by 4G tools bombarding us with information, diversions, accessability and work from as close as the palm of your hand, has drawn the focus of many Christians away from the central figure of our Faith -- Jesus Christ -- and made it easy for us to drift into passive spirituality.

More Like Christ, with fresh, thoughtful parallels drawn from everyday life, as well as insightful reflections on familiar New Testament passages, sifts through the maze of worldly distractions affecting us all and illuminates the the path that Jesus Christ Himself challenges us to take: a life of active service to others.

You'll be moved by John Rabbitt's compelling analogies and his modern-day parables offering down-to-earth strategies that promote a personally fulfilling and contemporary pratice of what Jesus teaches. There is so much food for thought in this short work, and so many provocative challenges (lots of cool pictures, too!), you'll find yourself going back to it again and again for stimulating ideas to help you practice your faith -- ideas that will inspire you to live More Like Christ: loving and serving God, by loving and serving others.

    Good experience

Although geared to those young people who are to make their Confirmation it provided helpful ideas for older people in ways to establish a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. The work book format was very helpful.

A must read - I highly recommend this book!!

I just finished reading Mr. Rabbitt's book yesterday and I passed it on to my 14 year old daughter and my 17 year son to read. It is a great book!! Mr. Rabbitt does a great job taking Christ's message and applying it to everyday opportunities in the 21st century. The style is very easy to follow and readers of all ages will find it intersting and appropriate for the world we live in today. Very well done!!

    INSPIRING

This book may have been written to help young teens prepare for Confirmation, but I found this book very interesting and inspirational even though I made my Confirmation about 50 years ago. I especially enjoyed the chapter on "Idols and Cravings" where we are asked who we admire or idolize, and what possessions we crave. After examples are given of possible idols (athletes, movie stars, historical figures, etc.) or what worldly possessions we want to own, the author presents five stories of real life heroes who have sacrificed much to help others. After reading these stories, it makes one realize that while we might still idolize the athletes, movies stars, etc., we really should be emulating those who sacrificed much to benefit others. The book gives one a lot to contemplate and I know I felt good after reading it. I would recommend it wholeheartly.
