Editorial Reviews

While researching an article for a local magazine, Oklahoma historian Ken Butler became fascinated with the history of Sooner State outlaws. He shared his findings, first in his 1997 Oklahoma Renegades and now in this posthumously published follow-up. More Oklahoma Renegades is arguably the more revelatory of the two books, concentrating as it does on lesser-known miscreants. Butler's narrative returns us to an era when train robberies, prison breaks, and shootouts were not completely uncommon occurrences. A compelling read; obviously a labor of love.
