In this genre-bending novel- among the first to have launched sci fi into the arena of literature -one of the great imaginers of the twentieth century tells a story as mind-blowing as any controlled substance and as affecting as a glimpse into a stranger's soul. For as the protagonists of More Than Human struggle to find who they are and whether they are meant to help humanity or destroy it. Theodore Sturgeon explores questions of power and morality, individuality and belonging, with suspense, pathos, and a lyricism rarely seen in science fiction.
First published in 1953, this most celebrated of Sturgeon's works won the International Fantasy Award, as has been touted as "a masterpiece of provocative storytelling" (The Herald Tribune). A group of remarkable social outcasts band together for survival and discover their combined powers renders them superhuman.
As an Avid SF reader I consider this book to be among the best written. Though there is no accounting for taste, I found the book great in almost all aspects.

This is a great book about several psychics who band together to become something amazing and unheard of. Also this book holds up outstandingly well for a book written in the early 50's. In fact the only real reason you can tell it was written in the 50's is the stand it takes against racism and how the subject is approached.
One of the best books about people with psychic powers of all time. So, I say to hell with Carrie.
