Lucretia Mott delivered her last public address in Rochester, New York, on July 19, 1878. It was the thirtieth anniversary of the Seneca Falls Convention, and Lucretia was eighty-five years old. She had lived her life by listening always to her inner light, her conscience, and this inner light had illuminated the way for her to do great things and influence much change. Her last public words summed up how she had felt her whole life about equality between the sexes: ¿¿give women the privilege of cooperating in making the laws, and there will be harmony without severity, justice without oppression.¿
