Overview

A brutal mugging two years ago left Calli terrified to go out after dark, and incapable of real dating. Hanging out with a resentful Chihuahua every night hasn't filled the void, and all the sex toys from the store she owns could never replace a flesh-and-blood man. An online Scrabble site promising anonymous, flirty fun sounds like just the ticket. A like-minded geek, that's what she needs. Unbeknownst to her, the man on the other end of the game is anything but geeky.
Tired of the party scene, Travis seeks a venue where he can meet a woman who is drawn to his mind, not his profession. Having women chase after his bad-boy musician persona has grown stale. After heating up the tiles online with Calli, he knows he must meet her in person. Touch her in person. And when he does, their chemistry is undeniable. She stimulates him, mind and body. But when he discovers her tragic past he realizes it will take more than words to win her heart . . . and her trust.

Okay. They are playing dirty anonymous online Scrabble. IT'S MY PERFECT BOOK. And I really love the author's voice--it's funny and quick and simple but still sophisticated, which is not an easy feat. I found both characters sympathetic and believable--even though it would have been easy for her to let her heroine to fall into a "victim" role. The sex in this book (and her first, too) is crazy-hot. I had some mild credulity issues with some aspects of the plot, but they actually didn't cramp my enjoyment of this book, which I would definitely recommend.

After Calli is mugged and nearly killed, she becomes afraid to leave her apartment at night. She holes up like a hermit, her only social outlet playing online Scrabble. She plays and flirts with Travis, a tattooed rock musician who’s tired of the party scene and one night stands. He’s taken by her, and after a misstep, manages to track her down to place of business and their cyber relationship becomes physical. Everything’s fine until the sun sets and Calli refuses leave her apartment because of her fears. I loved this book. If you’ve read Game Plan by Karla Doyle, it offers more of the same humor and witty banter between the characters that Doyle does so well. She has a knack for snappy dialogue. What I also thought she did especially well in More than Words was plot. The conflicts and problems naturally flowed from choices the characters made. The characters and their situations felt very real to me and I had several “oh no!” moments while reading this book. Both characters are very likable (although I did not like Calli very much when she “couldn’t” take her dog to the vet. Suck it up, lady! LOL). If you enjoy hot contemporary romance, this book and this author is a great choice.

It was a good book. I really enjoyed the characters along with the story. If you are looking for a funny book that will take your mind off your everyday life this is it. If you don't get much of a sample on your nook try going to Ellora's Cave's website. They also give you a sample. That is when I really decided to go ahead and purchase the book.

This is a great book that will keep you turning the pages. The hero is so hot you'll want to wrap him up and take him home. Both of the characters are wonderfully flawed.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars More Than Words by Karla Doyle is a smexy standalone tale with a happily ever after. Get ready for some romance, suspense and heat. Calli is suffering from a type of agoraphobia. She was attacked two years ago and has been severely traumatized since. She lives in the apartment above the sex shop she owns and cannot go outside at night. AT ALL. She meets Travis in an online scrabble site for flirty people. Travis is a rock-and-roll god who is sick and tired of being treated like a piece of meat. So when he decides to try anonymously meeting someone through an online scrabble site, he gets way more than he could have dreamed for with Calli. From their first moments together you'll fall in love with these two lovers AND their pets. Throw in some massively steamy sexy scenes and this book's a winner.

More Than Words by Karla Doyle Karla has done it again! This was a really good book! People meet everyday over the internet so why not write a story about two people meeting and falling in love over a Scrabble internet game. Travis goes and searches for Calli because he can’t get her off his mind. Thank goodness Calli feels the same way. Travis has got to be one of the sweetest men to help Calli overcome her fears. I am not going to give it all away but it is definitely worth the reading time.

I love Karla Doyle! This book had me hooked from the first page to the last. You become part of the story. Feel their paim and joy. It had me laughing, crying, and my heart beating fast. This book had it all. With a strong heroine and sexy tatted rock star hero. Oh and don't forget the steamy sex! I'll read this one again and again.

I enjoyed this book, even though I felt it was a little crazy how they end up meeting in person. Still, I loved the story. =)
