All Music Guide - Drago Bonacich
Cuban-American Jorge Moreno delivers his debut album, focused on popular Latin rhythms combined with '50s and '60s pop styles. He breaks the ice with a bolero called "Reloj," followed by the modern ballad "Despertaré," goes on to cover Desi Arnaz's classic "Babalu," and then does an interesting Latin pop-meets-tropical song titled "Mi Sufrimiento." After Latin rock ballad "Volver a Empezar," the techno-pop "Ella" emerges as an alienating track, changing to a Beatles-oriented "16," and ending with "Por Eternidad," whose lyrics are based on the last thoughts by a dying man who wishes he had more time to do good deeds.

A fresh face with a new twist on the Latin sound

Miami born singer songwriter Jorge Moreno blends a little rock, a little salsa, a little Beatles, seasons it with his own view of music and the universe, and serves up some truly enchanting tracks. Despertaré is the measured plaint of a deserted boyfriend; Candelita is light and bouncy - but watch out you don't get burned! Por Eternidad is sweetly sad...

    Excellent album!

I was introduced to Jorge Moreno's music by a friend. I am impressed with the diversity of styles and keep discovering new things every time I listed to the CD. I cannot wait to see him in action live!

    Moreno!

I fell in love with Despertare the first time I heard it & had to track down the CD. Jorge's sound is very original and versatile. Modonna knows her music (she signed him to her recording co.). I don't understand why he is not on the radio. L.A. radio stations need to get with it.
