If you've seen Mists of Avalon...

If you've ever seen the film Mists of Avalon, and you want to enact the Pagan God and the Goddess through a sacred ritual, you will find the perfect rituals for this in this book. Powerful and poetic words accompany the ritual actions which of course culminate in....!<BR/>Aside from these rituals there are rituals that cover every need, healing, prosperity, love, and so on. You won't be dissapointed! Excellent book.

Really a Gem of a Book

What a beautiful selection of spells. The author writes in such a poetic style, portions of all of the spells can be used as invocations. Many Goddesses (mostly Goddesses) and Gods from different cultures are prayed to , invoked, and honored. There is such an emotive heartfelt quality to her writing that even if the spell elements were stripped away, the invocations would stand quite powerfully on their own. My favorites are : Prayer to the Black Madonna, Banshee Macha, and Spiral of the Delphic Oracle. Also the whole section on the Goddess and the God reminds me of the film 'Mists of Avalon.' Enacting the Goddess and the God couldn't be guided any better than this. I see a comment in the prior review which doesn't accurately reflect the introduction in the book. The author didn't write that Wicca began in the Paleolithic period, but that Goddess worship began then. I assume that she got this idea from author Raymond Buckland, but then it is really impossible to know. Bottom line, for this under $10 price, this beautiful book is more than a bargain.

    ?

I am so tired of people writing things like Wicca is an ancient religion . It is not it is quite modern. Although most of its practices are based on a multitude. Of ancients practices I have much respect for all religions . But get the facts straight

    What's Wrong With This Book

Considering that Wicca has no history going back to the Paleolithic times I can find nothing to recommend about this book. For anyone who wishes to read a truly scholarly history of Wicca I would suggest 'Triumph of the Moon' by Ronald Hutton. Wicca is a modern religion created by Gerald Gardner in the 1940's, not some ancient belief system. As for Morgan Le Fay, she is a fictional character who doesn't even appear in the original legends about the equally fictional Arthur. So claiming that the spells come directly from her also rates as a piece of fiction. I also find it tasteless that the first review of this book is one obviously written by the author herself. Bah, save your money.

On 'Morgan Le Fay's Book of Spells'

This book includes a scholarly history of the Wiccan Religion from Paleolithic times to the present day and complete instructions for casting spells inspired by Morgan Le Fay herself (the half-sister of Camelot's King Arthur.) There are spells for Strength and Power, Healing and Protection, Prosperity and Love, Endings and Farewells, and more, with preparations and complete liturgy.' A fabulous magical collection of spells. The power of passionate poetry colors and impowers the invocations. An excellent resource.
