Overview

"Through the eyes of a young man embarking on a mission to Hong Kong, Jack Worthy draws the reader into the world of Mormon indoctrination, where the faithful are not expected to merely profess belief or faith; they are expected to profess knowledge.' From childhood, Mormons are taught that warm feelings (supposedly from God) validate the truths of Mormonism. Long before they are old enough to understand what they are saying, LDS children are prompted to frequently declare in public that they know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that the Book of Mormon and LDS Church are true.

What People Are Saying

Richard Peckham
Quickly allows the reader to 'become' that devout Mormon boy who voluntarily gave up two years of his young adulthood to serve God and to save souls. (Richard Peckham, founder, Ex-Mormon Foundation)

    Very interesting and informative

I grew up a Mormon and this book gives a very accurate description of what growing up Mormon is like. It was well written, entertaining, and is informative for anyone who wants to know more about the Mormon church. Its interesting that all the one star reviews either had no comment, or had comments that gave no indication they had actually read the book. Hmmm... that seems to indicate that the author is onto something. Highly recommended.
