Charles Haddon (C.H.) Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) was a British Particular Baptist preacher. Spurgeon remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations, among whom he is known as the "Prince of Preachers". He was a strong figure in the Reformed Baptist tradition.

    One of the Oldies but Goodies

    I read this devotional book years ago, and when on vacation this summer, I downloaded the ebook onto my Nook to read while away. Though the daily entries are not what you might call easy reading, they are spiritually and intellectually stimulating, as well as informative, comforting and convicting. Each day of the year has a morning reading and an evening reading - perfect way to start and end each day! Included with the readings are bible verses that go along with the little message of the day. It is such a comfort to read these writings of long, long ago and realize Christians faced the same stresses and problems then as we do now, and that the same Lord is in control of them all - and continues to be ready and willing to help us.

    Excellent words, but missing a few

    This is an amazing book; unfortunately, this particular version cuts out a bit. I have read a few entries that cut out mid-sentence and I found out (through checking online) that there is quite a bit to go until the end of the entry. Most of the entries are complete, but it is frustrating to be reading and enjoying only to have it cut off and realize that in order to finish, you need to find another source.

    Awesome!

    As is ALL of Charles Spurgeon's writings. Ya'll should check out his book called, "When Christ Returns." It is a must read too.

    Many Gems in there although the writing style is a little archaic

    Spurgeon's M&E readings provoke much food for thought. The writing style reflects the era of the author but this does not prevent the message from getting across. Each reading takes a few minutes but can be reflected on and taken further.
